trading my GL450 for a Range Rover sc
We'll I am making a 3rd SUV change in less than 6 months. I hope this latest change works for me.
I like the GL but I think its the seats that I dont like. Also its a little small inside for me. A couple of other minor probs but overall a good car.
Anyway, I went with a new supercharged Range Rover. It takes the potholes better than the GL and there are lots of potholes here in NJ. Its quieter and the seats are way more comfortable and the interior is overall a little more luxurious.
Hopefully this works for me now because I dont know what else there is.
PS: I am not really trading the GL, I can drive it anytime I want since it will go to an employee.

Out Of Control!!
Congratulations. I really like the Range Rover, but I have heard they are maintenance intensive. I guess a lot of people say that about MBs as well.
Nice collection of cars, especially the Chevelle. I bought a new SS396 in 1966. It was near the end of the production year when they were producing the 375HP engine. Too much power for a teenager. It lasted 6 months until a guy running a stop sign took care of it. Man, I wish I had that car today.

Thanks.
The Range Rover will be short term lease so maintanence wont be too much of an issue.
Sorry to hear your chevelle news. I love that year too.
My chevelle has been neglected lately. It's more of a warm weather car.
It is an SS car with a 720 HP street motor. Frame off resto and very loud

Range Rover has more space
Wow I find it interesting your change from a GL to a Range Rover the Gl has much more space than a Range Rover. The GL is the best for tall people who want an SUV.

Specs are realy close between the 2.
RR is only 1.5" wider..it just felt bigger for some reason to me. Im 5-10" and the 1" headroom difference didnt matter.

cmcjo, I understand what you're saying about the RR seeming larger. I've driven both, and while the GL is obviously larger overall in interior space, the drivers compartment does feel much more spacious.

cmjo, I have traded my 6 mo old GL for a RR SC. As you said, the GL is a great SUV. I just wish they make the ride more compliant like the RR, and make the interior fittings tighter to avoid rattles. The GL seems to be narrower on the inside. Anyway, hope you wil like your new suv.

Yeah I didn't want to say anything about the ride...but there is a big difference. In fairness, it is 25K more than the GL though. Dont know what the heck rock climbing mode is but I want to try it.
Anyway its an MB forum so I will go back to the S forum and talk about how much I love my S!

Whats the diffrence
I find it funny about these comments on the GL versus a Range Rover first off the Rover does not fit 7 people and in regards to the drivers side, if your 5'10 the difference in space would seem the same. I guess everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. What are you getting for the 25k, besides the name and a nice body style and Ford Engine?

GL450
As a family-sized luxury SUV the GL450 cannot be beat. We've had the GL for about a month and it has been pretty much perfect. When you have to carry your own children and a few extra the GL has the space - even with car seats!
