Hi, boss:
Congratulations on your new GL. Can't wait to see pics with the new wheels. One question, though. Why did you instruct the dealer not to wash/wax before delivery? I would imagine seeing any imperfections on a dirty car would be next to impossible. Things can slip by quality control, you know.

I understand his "state of mind"......Having been involved car shows and things of that sort.......I know that the best and most careful prep of a car is done by the guy who paid for it

.........even though it is a thoughtful and generous offer by the dealers who do that for you. Particularly important if you are specific about the kinds of products you want to use on the finish.

Secondly, I must say that considering modern digital technology - hell, even a cell phone can take a picture these days! - I am thoroughly disgusted with your lack of photos.

Two things; I know from having owned an '86 560SEL that you will get used to the cruise control and frankly may end up preferring it to other systems.

Well said...LOL Being that my 320 is the same color (inside and out) and also has the illuminated sills...the least he could do is post some shots of his dirty GL so we can see it.

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
I used to think that this wasn't a problem, but I just did this last night (on my SLK350) while driving down I-95... I was slowing down to take my exit, then I wanted to flip on the right signal, but I accidentally, touched the cruise stalk!
My car started to speed up to highway speed, but I quickly pressed the brake to slow down since the exit lane was turning sharply almost immediately.
Off topic: Another thing I never liked are the shift paddles on the SLK55-AMG. I test drove it before buying the SLK350, but I didn't like the paddles, plus didn't want to pay $60k+ MSRP... so I ended up getting the SLK350 instead, fully loaded, for $60k+.... well worth it! :-)

I've got the illuminated sills too...they glow a pleasant blue color that really stands out in the dark. It's a decadent waste of money but my kid and her friends think that it's the coolest thing about my GL 320, even cooler than RSE and the third row sunroof...
Illuminated sills can be added by the dealer but labor is a killer (3 to 4 hours). They look really sharp but are only available for fronts. I know in my case, if they did have back ones, they would probably last a month with all the leaping that our in-house Spiderman does from those sills.

I'm only being a wise guy
- here you go. I've added one of the sills. It was taken with a flash which reduces the blue effect, but the ones I did without flash were a very slow shutter and too blurry. Hope you like them.
(No more wise guy.)
Edit - added a no-flash sill. The flash didn't do justice.

Thanks NJ, but you are too kind. Everyone's GL looks great and aftermarket wheels are not everyone's cup of tea. Remember, your's will be here before you know it and will look identical to mine. The best looking GL is the one you own!

Great Lookin, Box...like the sills ALOT! As for the cruise stalk, it's been that way on MB's since late 70's early 80's...you'll get to thinking it's perfect.
