INteresting difference

Well I went in to my dealership today to see why the paddle shifters weren't working and the tech sat in the car, used the paddle shifters and all was fine.

It turns out that the difference between my old factory wheel and this new gorgeous lovely wonderful attractive wood and leather steering wheel is that on the old one, the right paddle was up-shift and the left paddle was down-shift (if I recall correctly). On the new wheel, each paddles like an up-down toggle switch. Inside (closer to the column) is down-shift, and outside (closer to the wheel) is up-shift. Good to know, as we would've been unaware had the hose blown off again! How many have which type, and what's the build?

Thanks!
