Tele Aid -- Worth It?
I've had my GL almost 2 months now. As it was going through the car wash the other day, a thought struck me. What if the brainiacs at the car wash lock my keys in my GL? I hadn't enrolled in Tele Aid yet and worse, didn't have their phone number programmed into my cell phone so if my keys did get locked in the car, I wouldn't have any way to call them.
So, on the way home from work the other day, I pressed the "i" button and updated my info. with Tele Aid. The rep. told me about the Tele Aid version of Low Jack. My GL came with Low Jack installed, but it's $700 to activate it. Anybody have experience with the Tele Aid "low jack" vs. the real Low Jack?
My first year with Tele Aid is free and I have no idea how much it costs after that point. Is it worth whatever the annual fee is for the basic Tele Aid service?
Talking with the Tele Aid person is what brought up my interest in the "puck", too. I was amazed at how clear the call was; it didn't sound like the old speakerphone I had in my 1992 Honda Accord.

For me, it's not worth squat!
I've had the GL for 2 weeks now and everytime I press the "i" button, I get a message telling me to make a roaming call I need to give them a cc number. I've called the dealer and the 800 Tele-aid number and was told a week ago that their carrier (Verizon) was having issues in MS but would have them resolved by last weekend. So far...nothing! Good thing I haven't needed any aid the last two weeks!

Mine was also activated at the time I got the car and I have yet to use it. Maybe I should let it run out of gas once just so I can use it

OnStar, Tele-Aide, LoJack, I always reluctantly give in and pay-up for these services in my vehicles. I guess it's worth it when you need it like any sort of insurance. You're car gets stolen, "I should've had LoJack", breakdown in the middle of nowhere, "I should've bought TeleAide", lock the keys in, "I should've paid for OnStar". They're all way overpriced services but they know that and I pay anyway.

While I doubt that someone will try to steal my GL, I also doubted someone would steal my flight bag from the back of my LX by breaking the glass, and take my logbook, my certificate, and some books, leaving my expensive headset. At that point, I would've loved OnStar or whatever for my flight bag.

TeleAid is like life insurance. Seems like a waste of money until you need it. But when you really need it, you're glad you paid the bucks to get it.
Examples:
- Keys locked in the car along with the dog. I've heard stories of dogs jumping on the door and locking the car from the inside. Oops.
- Severe auto accident when you're too injured to call 911 or can't find your phone in the mess. TeleAid calls automatically and gives your location and vehicle description.

Yeah I guess it just keeps going these days, I just paid 8K for a plasma TV so what's another $500 for an extended warranty, Ins agent talks me into earthquake coverage for my homeowners (Boston?), I have AAA in case the tele-aide doesn't work, long term health care, etc, etc, etc. I guess I'm a sucker for perhaps a false peace of mind??

Four Leggers and Two Leggers
OK, you sold me right there! My dogs are my kids and while they are relegated to the back part of the vehicle, they can wriggle out of the barricade I have back there & end up in the middle row of seats (happened last weekend). I'd be a wreck if they were locked in the car with the keys inside.
