Interior Lighting question.....
Yes this is a very minor problem BUT annoying......the light in the footwell on the front passenger side does not come on.......the owners manual does not list bulb specs for the interior lights, nor talk about how to get at 'em.....anybody know anything about this before I make a 60 mile roundtrip to the dealer to fix it? Thanks............

i could be wrong, but...i think the passenger footwell light is part of the "ambient package" for which you have to purchase the leather interior...somebody else check this for me...

Yup....I have all of that and the other "ambient lights" all work......the passenger footwell light does not come on so I am assuming the bulb is bad and was hoping I could just pop the lens off and change it myself BUT I am not so sure about that.

I may be talking out of turn since I don't have my GL yet. But the ambient lighting on my SLK350 is actually small LEDs, not bulbs. The GL's ambient lighting may also be LEDs, and that could explain why the manual doesn't show replacement bulb part numbers.
LEDs usually last a long time, so I'd be inclined to check for a wiring problem or open connection rather than a bad LED.

Thanks for the idea.......I have looked pretty carefully and it seems that the ambient lighting in the footwells uses the standard light ( about a 2in.long rectangular white plastic unit ) at a lower level ..... almost like a regular house bulb on a dimmer switch........anyway, that light fixture should light up at full throttle when the doors are opened and then drop to a lower level for ambient..... it does not do either. I don't have the guts to just pry off the lens cover...........so, I'll call for my appt. today!

Well.....they were wrong......you simply pop the lens off (like I was afraid to do) and put a new bulb in. Took the tech about 2 minutes! Said it was the first one they have had......

Good deal, usually the other way around, a 2 minute job takes 2 hrs. You're all set again for some night time cruising with the proper ambience!
