Fourth time!
Exactly! Diesel is not a new technology.......and for years MB was considered to be the leader in the field..........doesn't make sense
MB has agreed to purchase the GL back from me. The paperwork will take about a week to complete.
I continue to drive the Pontiac Torrent they gave me.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'm also appalled that your dealer hasn't given you the manager or owner's MB to drive while this is sorted out-they should be driving the Torrent.
I do love my 320 and i'm sorry you've had such issues that yours is a goner...

.....And my 450 has been outstanding......it will never get the milage that the 320 does.......but what else is going to either? The vehicle concept is great......the diesel engine has been a headache for too many people! The only other vehicle that is in the same class is the Land Rover.....in terms of luxury and all-wheel drive capabilities.
To me, there's nothing that compares (but i also have an incredible dealer)...my one breakdown resulted in them having the car brought back to my home (an hour and a half away) later the same day.

As far as the loaner....I'm lucky to have anything and MB will tell you the same as they did me when I thought I was going to get stuck in Tallahassee. It is solely up to the dealer for loaners and their dime not MB. My dealer is small and only has a few MB loaners as most are Pontiac from their other line they sell. It sucks, I know, and I'm not making excuses for them but its reality

I agree.....I was making the comparison to the LR only as regards the combined level of luxury and 4 wheel capability....I am aware of the reliabiltiy issues with the LR. The Hummer H2 has equal or maybe slightly better 4 wheel capablity but is no where near the quality and luxury level..........and my dealer has been great as well.......but then, I haven't any problems

Later, Tom got an S-class. No oil drip.
Mercedes refunded my entire purchase price with -0-, yes zero, deducts for mileage or wear and tear! I was amazed to say the least and they may have left one cell of hope in my body for the future ownership by doing so. Although I had already purchased the Q7, I would still make the same decision today under the circumstances.
Even though I'm officialy no longer a GL owner I will definitely be around these parts often. Best of luck to all future CDI owners.
By the way, the service department installed a newer hose and assembly of some sort on my GL and have been using it around the dealership for the last few days. The local wholesaler offered them $62K for it but I believe they are going to keep it and try to sell it on the used car lot. Since the dealership actually purchased it back MB won't have to mark the title 'lemon'. Buyers beware!
I think you clearly had the worst situation of all of us experiencing the hose pop. While MB did do the right thing, it seems they took their time doing it. Still driving, still loving, still there it is in the back of my mind - "will it go again?" I don't believe I would've handled it any differently than you did in the same situation. DON'T BE A STRANGER! (DO be strange!)
