Exclamation Fourth time!

7:45am CT 6/6/2007

On the way to Summer Camp with my kids. Bam! 'nuff said.

Called tele-aid, limped back to the house, took everything I own out and then called the dealership.

I'll walk.

OMG...that is just unreal! Was this hose a Q2, or the "new and improved" Q3? Any word back yet from MB corporate on the buy back?

They should give you every penny you paid for that vehicle and a very steep discount on a new car. That is, if you even want a new one at this point.

This really sucks.

Not a MB. I'm over it. I'll move on to something else now. Especially since they don't have the ***** to call me after receiving my letter.

Four occurances and no response from MB. I'd call the Attorney General's office for your state. (The AG in my state handles consumer complaints and I'm assuming your AG does the same.)

You have a major lemon law case and a valid complaint against MB for ignoring your correspondence in the face of a serious safety issue with your car.

This is also the kind of red meat that investigative reporters on local news shows love to report. That will get you some action! Even the threat of going to the reporters should get MB moving.

That sucks...... I am not not an attorney and don't know how the lemon laws work were you are but I would think at this point that they would need to buy the car back. I was under the impression that in most states they had three attempts to get it right and if they could not fix the problem they have to buy it back. Good luck........What is the dealer saying about all of this? That's really disappointing MB is not stepping up to the plate......

Dealer has bent over backwards. They have been very good to me. MB is the one who has to buyback the vehicle.

Holy Cow! Sorry to read this Autosaurus. What a royal pain in the ***.

This is such a dangerous problem that the GL320's have. We've been stranded once so far, and now I'm afraid to use the car for any long distance travel or trips to the desert. I was hoping to go to Moab with our GL and explore some of the jeep roads there but I don't feel like I can put my family at risk of a breakdown in the desert.

Mercedes is one injury or death away from massively tarnishing their already spotty reputation.

Had different problems with GL 450, and after three attempts with no resolution, advised dealership I was reporting to Commonwealth as a lemon, and MB bought it back without hesitation. I would think your situation is crystal clear, and without a doubt they should buy your vehicle back. Fortunately, the GL 320 that replaced it has only had one hose failure at 7500, and now at 9400 miles is running beautifully. If you don't need a large vehicle, the ML 320 is solid, and has a different hose configuration. Good luck.

Go for a Lemon claim.

I am sorry to read that AutoSaurus. MB must by your GL back. Go for a Lemon claim and stick with Mercedes.

More amazing than the hose blowing 4 times is the complete lack of response from MB! The AG or newspapers is the way to go.

I was thinking about this a couple of days ago while pulling into heavy 65mph traffic via an on-ramp. What if my GL died right as I merged between 2 18 wheelers??? Thank God I have a 450.

My sympathies Jack.

awaiting my GL320

my GL320 arrived last week and is getting covered with roadblock film. I hope it has the current hose fix. I plan on a test drive to check the hose as I test drove one that blew a hose on an on ramp near the dealer. The GL is overall a better design than the X5 for space.

You guys have me worried about driving x-country even though I am in a 450. I have 15k miles and so far so good. I'll be putting her to the test since I will be pulling my cargo trailer along with 5 people and a dog with the roof-top cargo carrier. Sorry to hear that many of you are having such a negative experience with your GLs.

Wish me luck.

Regards,
Mel

Remember, this only effects the GL320CDI not the 450 which appears to have zero problems like this.
