Open door indicator?
Page 475 in the Manual shows a symbol that should come on if "one or more doors are open" ............My 450 does not display that symbol but rather comes up with a red message in the MFD that says "door open vehicle not in park" AND it only does this for for driver's door................anybody else have anything different? I find it hard to believe that a vehicle of this caliber does not monitor all doors???

I've had the rear passenger doors be ajar (not shut fully) when I got into the vehicle after going through the car wash. A red picture of the vehicle showed up on the main display screen and showed the rear 2 doors open. It happened again (after the same car wash a week later) with only showing 1 door. So mine appears to be working as indicated in the manual.
Have you tried it with any other doors other than the drivers door? Maybe the message you're seeing is for the drivers door only. Try shutting the back doors not quite tight & see if you get a different message when you close the drivers door & turn on the ignition.

My service dept and sales guy has not heard of any issues about this from customers or MB bulletins. I am going to have them look at it when I'm in for first tire rotation. I drive alone 99.9% of the time so not a big deal for me but with kids in the back, a definite safety isue!

Hmmmmm..........
Again.......doesn't make sense that they would have changed the programming so that it doesn't monitor the doors.....so maybe an error that needs to be corrected.

SOLVED! You are right on the money! The warning graphic for the 3 other doors comes on ONLY after you have moved the vehicle 10ft. or so. However, the verbal warning comes on immediately if it is the driver's door that is open and the vehicle is put into gear! Once again the value of the forum is priceless.........because my dealer is still trying to figger out how it is supposed to work
