Anyone w/ a 320 CDI w/out problems?

Are there any owners out there without any problems with their 320 CDI? Details about the date of build and purchase, miles, etc. would be helpful. My confidence with this particular model is waning. I have a '08 CDI on order and I really need some positive feedback if I'm to stick with the order. Thank you!

oinick hasn't had any. I can't remember his specifics, but it seems like an early '07 late '06 build, maybe 7k on the clock. That's at least one.

my 320 is getting roadblock applied this past week. No problems so far because I have not driven it yet. They had a hard time stretching the film on the complex hood curves. Film protection of the paint is the way to go. No chips.

No problems so far... Of course we have only had ours since this past Monday 6/4/07. Now just a hair under 400 Miles and no problems.

4/26/07 original build date. I think it was probably built around 5/15 or so after a production line delay.

We have had our GL 320 CDI since January and have put on about 8500 miles and have had no problems. I am assuming that the vehicle was built late Dec 06 or early Jan. We have no regrets and love the fuel economy which is averaging around 22 mpg mostly city driving. It is no rocket ship but the power is much better than I expected.

MDGL320 - A bit off topic but . . . please share information about your road block / film protection / clear bra (or whatever) being done on your car. What type you are getting (partial or complete wrap? trimmed edges or completely tucked behind headlamps and front grill? etc.)? Who do you use, MB or an Indy shop? and, pricings?

I drive an R320 CDI (Mar 07) and am looking to protect the front end of my white Rclass. I live in Nothern VA, btw.

Thanks a lot.

Still hoping ...

After the replacement of the hose with a Q2 and what sounded like a pretty intricated application procedure, my wife's taking the GL to Colorado Springs for the weekend. Plenty of altitude, lots of boost pressure, it should put the hose under enough stress to know whether the problem will ... pop up again.

I too would like to know something about the hull plating you're planning on protecting your car with.

Roadblock protection

Two years ago I had my repainted black 1993 Mazda RX-7 covered with then new 3M version 2 protective film. Although I have only driven that car 1500 miles, no chips.
When I put a deposit on my to be built GL320CDI in April, I scheduled the film application prior to delivery. It has complicated things but I wanted the film protection before any possible paint damage. I had a full application with coverage of bumper, hood, mirrors, fenders near wheels, and rear bumper near the loading area.
I plan on picking up my GL tomorrow and will keep you posted. The cost for this is $1200. and the installer needs 1 week or more. They are busy.

I can't comment yet on the quality but my MB salesman said it looks very good. The shop is in Sterling, VA. The cuernt owner isn't the same owner I delt with 2 years ago, but they seem well qualified. Please wait until I check out my GL and post some additional information.

BTW: I was told by my dealership American Service Center, Arlington, VA,that the turbo hose is a "Q" and should pose no problems.Let's see...

MDGL320 -

Thanks for the useful info on the film protection. I'll wait for your report after the delivery. Ask your SR if the hose is "Q3" which is the latest. Both Q1 and Q2 versions have posed problems to some owners on the board. Congratulations on the new vehicle.

With a build date in late May 07 I assume a Q3 turbo fix. The pre delivery check verified a Q upgrade but did not specify Q3. I know the dealer will stand behind this vehicle. Again, there is no other comparable vehicle to consider, that's diesel.

"Assume"=="***-u-me." My dealer stands behind my vehicle, too, with two hose pops before replacing it with a Q2 hose. Physically look for yourself, if you can. Based on my own experience, I think it's half hose design and half installation procedure. We'll see.

Yep, boxboss is right. No problems. The build date was 3/21/07, delivery 3/25/07. 4400 miles so far -- I am on my first big road trip in it right now and a little nervous that it will act up on me. I also had to drive through south central Alabama on two lane roads and was afraid there would be no ULSD, but there was lots.

I love my GL. I am in the process of selling my former daily driver, a really fine 2005 545i. Just not using it enough that I have my GL...
