The BBQ Meet!

Our good friend oknish will be heading east in a couple of weeks, and I would like to invite all the forum members to a meet and eat rendezvous at the Rendezvous in his honor. We will be meeting at 4PM, Saturday, July 7th at the Rendezvous Restaurant in Memphis.

I know most of you will not be able to attend, but be with us in spirit if not in person. Ribs and GL's will dominate the conversation! If you can make it, PM me or post so I can reserve adequate seating.

Remember that Steve....

You are an evil, evil person.

In truth, the good part is that I get the dry rub and do ribs here at home, but I'm just now starting to get into smoking them (my 'cue is five burners so it's big enough to put the smoke at one end and the meat at the other). What I don't have is pecan (or PEEcan) chips to smoke with.

You know what'll kick butt? If you take some good snapshots (on the street, too, of all the GLs together) and post them here. Now THAT'LL be worth it!

Ditto. That'll help cure our salivating mouths.

We'll be camping around Leadville (look that altitude up on Google) as we're sick of the 90 degree weather here. I know, I know... NJ and Pilot probably haven't seen highs that low since April, but us cold weather folk just can't take the heat.

We'll have a smore or two around the campfire in your honor instead.

Enjoy those ribs!

90 degrees...that's a cold spell here...:-) Cooled off here though today...down to 105 or so. Humidity in single digits.

Have a great meet Boxboss...sounds like a winner to me. May be heading east in early September....

Thanks, boss, for getting this together. I am so looking forward to it. GLs and Ribs - what more can a man ask for.......

And, for those of you joining us in spirits while you are on mountains/around campfires, in Cancun/Vermont/Michigan, or tree lined streets of Henderson, NV; I will make sure to eat one slab for each of you

oknish is flying in, so his GL will not be there. From the looks of it, mine will be the only GL there. I know there are a couple of other owners in the area....

106-108 for the highs on the 10-day, lows around 80. We did a round-trip flight to Chicago to swap a dog with a woman from Sweden and landed around 9pm local time. My GL told me it was 99 degrees at 9:30 at night. You'd think that would bother me, but with single digit humitidy it's just not all that bad!

Of course, washing away the humidity in the basement of a building full of ribs and beer does make life worth living in the Mid-South!

I didn't get the second animation, but the first one is WAY off. I have absolutely no use for a knife and fork.

How does that song go......"too much time on my hands"

You guys are killing me. And whoever heard of eating ribs with a knife and fork? Next thing you know someone will post a pic of a guy with a napkin while eating ribs.

I don't think they have knives/forks at the Rendezvous...or any other decent rib place for that matter. "Finger Lickin' Good" doesn't always apply to chicken!

Due to oknish's flight schedule, the time of the BBQ meet has been changed. It will now be at 3PM on the 7th rather than 4PM. AFAIK, Jack450 is the only potential GL owner in the area that hasn't chimed in yet.

This is going to look bad guys...a GL meet with 2 owners and 1 GL.

OTOH, oknish and I will have ALL those ribs to ourselves.... Like pulling petals from a daisy - one for me, one for NJ, one for me, one for STP, one for me, one for jpeardm, one for me, one for Stumblefoot, one for me, one for blittle, etc, etc, etc!!!
