My 2007 GL320CDI has been built (10 days prior to the scheduled July 9 build date) and I'm awaiting shipment.
When I take delivery (hopefully in 2-3 weeks) I'll let everyone know about a few things:

1. The type of intercooler hose. Q3 or maybe something newer. Also, whether there is a new type of clamp.
2. Whether the side mirrors can be dipped when reversing. Some recent buyers have reported that they can program the dipping mirrors in the multifunction display. Previous buyers could not do this.
3. Transmission 2-1 and 3-2 shifting. Some earlier buyers have experienced rough downshifting. Later buyers have not mentioned this recently, so I hope MB has ironed it out.
4. Photos, of course. It is Pewter with ash MB-Tex.

If there are any additional requests for information, please respond to this thread and I'll add to the list above. Here are my options:

P1
Keyless Go
Rear camera
Voice control
Sunroof
Bi-Xenon lights

I find that very interesting as I have been told I have a build date of 8 july for my 2008 GL320CDI. Certainly they didn't plan model overlaps.

Obsidium Black
P2
19"wheel package
running boads

I also found it odd that my July 9 scheduled build date was at the same time or BEFORE some 2008 models. As it turned out, though, they built mine the last day of June. It's very possible that mine was one of the last (or maybe THE last) 2007 GL320.

The switch to 2008 probably takes place first week of July. From what I see, there are no differences between the 2008 and 2007, besides how they bundle options into packages. This would allow an easy and immediate switch to 2008 models in the factory.

Is it true you can't order 2008 w/ diesel engine in PA?
I have been reading all of the great discussion and comments of the R320 and was planning on ordering the 2008, but was just told by a dealer that Pennsylvanians cannot register a diesel after the 2007 model year (PA is adopting the CA regs on emissions).

Is this true?

Unfortunately, yes. As of model year 2008, PA joins the other 5 states that ban diesels. You can buy them again once the models are introduced with the urea tank. Speculation centers around model year 2009 or maybe 2010 at the latest.

I waited 4 months and thought that was unbearable...I couldn't imagine 7 months!

MBTacoma, If you would keep us updated on the status of your July 8 build. Your dealer should be able to give you a status update. I have a build date of July 23 on an 08 GL320CDI. I'm hoping they stay on schedule, I've already ordered the 22" Brabus Monoblock E's and PowerXtra.

I ordered mine yesterday, and there was a MY08 Capri blue being built with pretty much all I needed, and it was in the final stages. Sales rep told me it should arrive by the end of the month.
I remember when the ML came out there was a waiting list for it, and I didn't buy the first generation which always have issues. so when the sales rep told me it was the second generation I decided I could wait 3-4 weeks, but waiting months? forget it, you guys are brave and very very patient. I almost drove to AZ to get one in black, eventhough it's not my prefered color.
What happens if you buy your car in a state that allows the diesel and then you have to move to another state that doesn't?
