Excuse me guys, I have to say, the euro model looks more "european", more stylish, and "fashion", like a Prada or DG purse.
The american model looks like a refined Cadillac escalade, more "beast", more "blingish", or "pimping".
I like both, but I'll take the euro over the american.

I think you will also find once we see some real pictures or see it in person that it will not be quite as dramatic as it appears in the rendition photos MBUSA has shown us. The use of highlights and high contrast images is designed to make a dramatic presentation of a product. In real life however, that dramatic effect is softened and I think this will happen with the GL550. Yes it has some "bling" but not the kind of bling I have seen on the Escalade or Navigator. There is a difference between doing something well and doing it with class. MB has always done things with class and this SUV will prove that.
Just my opinion mind you...:-)

Not too sure about the above comment.. Saw the above pic live at NY AUTO SHOW and this GL definitely stood out... Maybe not as in you face as an Escalade.. Maybe this will come off classy.. Hope so.. Don't want people making jokes at my 80K expense...

I don't think the GL has to worry about the Navigator at all anymore. I mean, look at it:
What in the world was Lincoln thinking!?!? The 2nd generation Navigator was perfect, IMHO!

NJ, I thought same thing when I saw this grey pic in ebrochure. Less dramatic and that's a good thing

The 450 is extremely classy to start with. The changes on the 550 certainly don't dilute that at all IMO. The AMG wheels are still stately, the body colored flares blend right in and the grille is just a little more bold than the 450 and certainly not a chrome "wall" coming at you like a Peterbilt Navigator. No one will say it's over the top once they see it.

They are trying to cash in on the nostalgia crowd by creating a retro look. I agree, it was better in the previous generation.

The American model reminds me to a cod!
Just like the old Ford Scorpio!
