No Adaptive Damping in GL550?

Note that this summary page from the MB Dealer's website does not mention ADS. I asked my dealer to check on this, and he asked his Marketing Manager, who does not believe MB included it because of the sport styling of the GL550. Doesn't really make sense to me. Anyway, my dealer is waiting to hear the final word from his Training Manager. In the meantime if anyone is really sure about this one way or the other, please chime in.

Could this be one reason the GL550 is coming in cheaper than we thought?

Here is a quote from GL Fahrer from the 4th of July that shows it is part of the standard equipment list.
Quote: Model year 2008 GL550 (USA):

(Standard Equipment):
Adaptive Damping System (ADSII)

That would be a real bummer and to many a deal breaker. GL Fahrer is usually pretty accurate and I hope he is in this case.

BTW...what dealer's web site is that listing from?

Not really sure about the website; just what the dealer told me. He e-mailed me a link to the web page I attached, but all of the links from that page were password-protected.

The GL will be our family vehicle. When I test drove the GL450, I thought the ride was on the firm side. I need to make sure that kids are comfortable for long trips. With ADS, the GL550 was a no-brainer. We don't really need the performance upgrade, but the standard features made it a relative bargain. However, if you take out ADS, it may not be the vehicle for us. I would have to consider changing to the GL450 and adding the ORP to get ADS. I would hate to lose the multi-contour seats, though. I'm in a quandary.

I would agree with you. I have emailed a knowledgeable friend who I am sure will check and get back to me as soon as he can to confirm, one way or the other.

I love that grill
That front grill looks great. Wondering if it would fit on an 07 450 ?

I don't think so. The front bumper was also changed to accept the new grille so I understand.

When is someone going to get that Bose active suspension system with the linear motors in it for their vehicles? I mean, have you seen how well that thing works? No airbags, no delayed reactions, full time active vehicle stability. Very cool.
