is there a way we can hear the dvd audio through the main car speakers and not just the headsets?

Yep, I can do it on mine...

In the audio menu, select "AUX".

There is a trick to it however, if you have an iPod... The iPod integration kit uses the same "AUX" input, so you will need to unplug the iPod before selecting "AUX" otherwise, it defaults to the iPod.

I have aftermarket DVD players (Vizualogic) and have not found a way to do that. Bummer.

They could have either installed the aftermarket system to work with the aux port (like the factory) or you may have a FM modulator set up for your system. This means that you have to tune your FM radio to a certain frequency to get the DVD sound throughout the vehicle.
