NAV SW Update
Just saw this in the list of TB's. I don't know who it effects but this pertains to 2007 models and PDI action.
This is the URL for the List of TSB's: http://www.whnet.com/4x4/tsb_164.html
Aug 9, 2007
T-B-82.85/593
Model 164.122/172/177/186/822/871/886 Model 251.122/156/165/175/177
As of MY 07 Equipped with Navigation System Code 530
Navigation Database Update At Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)
Check latest NAV SW is installed at PDI, should be BQ 646 0226
If not, order updated NAV DVD from Navteq and install, return old one for credit.

Is there someplace I can check to see what SW version I have? I have an appointment at the dealership this Saturday, but if I already have the correct version, I won't bother them about it.

Wait a minute. As I was typing this, I just realized that I have the ability to eject the NAV DVD from behind the COMAND unit. I wonder if the version number is listed on the DVD itself.

I am also interested in this... I had surfed around the system a bit to see if there was somewhere that displayed what version it is using, but I could not find anything...

I would just show the SA the TB and tell them you want the version checked and if not up to date to replace it per the TB.

My DVD says 2006.1
The TB says something about an updated NAV DVD. I would expect an updated DVD to say 2007.x instead of 2006.1. I'll ask about it during the 3k inspection.

I printed out the TSB for the NAV update and took it with me today when I took my 450 in for service. The SA wasn't aware of the TSB and ran a TSB check on my vehicle. The only one that came up was the oil dipstick. He took a copy of the TSB and gave it to the technician.
When I picked up the 450, the technician said that the TSB didn't apply to my vehicle. I'm not sure if he was blowing smoke or not, so I'm curious to see what response others get when they request the software update.

Since the TB # is higher than your copy of the DVD (0220 vs. 0226) it seems to me it would apply. Perhaps this is for PDI's after the date of the TB and older version would be a paid up-date. I would pursue it with the SM citing the version you have vs. the later version in the TB.

Speaking of Navs is it true that you cannot put an direct address into it. I heard that it was a range of addresses and not directly. I know that the 2007 S-Class cannot not always get the direct address (ex. 12123 Dean street). I hope this is not true for the Gl 550

You can enter a direct address....the question is, whether or not the NAV system can find it. My house was built in 2001 and while I can enter my address into the system, it can only find the road I live on and then says it is a gated community & you will need access to the address. Gee, I wish I'd known I lived in a gated community! Must be one of those invisible gates...yeah, that's it!

Here's a description of the changes for the very latest software, version 2007.1 from their website (hope it works, as it's a very long URL).

You might consider telling NAVTEQ about the error. They made this mapreporter available:

And it's good to know that I can purchase the updated NAV DVDs for $200. When I checked with dealer, back in Dec when I bought the car, I was told that the NAV DVDs only cost "$500 or so".

(Trust me, it was hard to say that. I hate speaking bad about my GL)

Ha ha, that's great. So while we are on the topic, does anyone else think the NAV/Map in the GL is...well...I guess mediocre? The resolution of the map is not too great, and half the time the NAV can't find the destination I want to go to!

Just a little nitpicky complaint...
