YUP, and I think the number is close to 1200 from what I read in the recall details.

Interesting they call it an Emissions Recall Campaign instead of maybe "Design Screw-up" recall. Who cares about emissions after reading some of the posts about people being stranded and some more than once.

I am guessing they were trying to prevent a "panic". How would one feel if you got a recall stating "Major possibility of power loss" recall campaign?

It would be hilarious if AutoSaurus gets this recall letter.

I just sent a copy of the Recall to AutoSaurus.

It will be of little comfort to him now. Hope he is doing better with Q7.

He tried to tell MBUSA it was not a one time only situation and I guess someone finally got wise. I think the connection to emissions impact is what probably created the need for the recall. However, it was really a safety issue and the reason I cancelled my delivery which was a week away.

I wonder what criteria MBUSA is using to determine which vehicles are affected and which ones are not...

Q1 hose.... Q2 Hose.... Q3 Hose.... and what about the other hose...

I would imagine it will be anyone still with Q1 or Q2 installed. I am sure they can trace this to VIN numbers included in the Recall.

Glad to see that MB has finally stepped up to the plate on this. Best of luck to all on the final fix.

I noted on the recall that they are going to replace two hoses, so that may mean ALL GL320's may get this fix, going to/from a certain VIN #

Even Q3 hoses are covered by recall...and 150 U.S. GL320's built per month for 2007

Just checked mine. Build date = June 29, 2007. Among the last of the 2007's built.

Left hose: A 164 528 11 82 Z 002 Q3
Right hose: A 164 528 12 82 Z 002 Q2

The replacement hoses are:

Left Charge Air Hose A 164 528 11 82 05
Right Charge Air Hose A 164 528 12 82 05

Drat! Thought I'd gotten a couple of the good hoses! Don't know of any Q3 failures but maybe they're just being cautious.

On another subject, we were all debating how many U.S. GL320's were being built per month. Since mine is among the very last of the 2007 GL320's built, and it's included in the recall, and the recalled number is about 1200...then it looks like they built about 1200 2007 GL320's.

If they started GL320 production in Nov 2006 (I think that's right?) and built them thru June 2007, that would be 1200/8 = 150 per month. No wonder it took nearly 7 months to get mine!!!

The MB deals have the recall notice so I doubt they would let a new vehicle off the lot without fixing a potential problem.

That would be the correct assumption.

But then again some MB dealers excel at missing the obvious until beaten on head with it.

Okay, it's been done

I'm no longer entirely sure what I'm looking at so anyone who can interpret - I do think the pink paint dots mean something.

Funny enough, PMC had one of each hose in stock at that time, and took the time to actually verify and be hands-on with the parts before sending me on my merry way for the day.

STP

PS I learned a few things - one is, there's really no room in the engine compartment. Two, diesels take a long time to cool down - A LONG TIME! And three, CDI means you can gather a light coating of oil trying to take a photograph.

I'm confused. Your new hose has the same part number as my factory-installed hose, which is different from the part number on the recall. See my post above.

I checked and I think the hose you're looking at you can only see the beginning of a number, which is the same for both hoses, and where you see the end of the number (002 but no Q number) I don't think that's the right hose anyway. I think the 05 hoses (as noted in the SB) don't have numbers on them directly, which could be why I wasn't able to figure out what I was looking at.

But the SA read the numbers directly from the notice to the parts guy who had those very hoses in stock and put his hands on them.

Well my earlier question was answered...

We have the Q3 Turbo to intercooler hose, and we got the recall letter a few days ago.

I will probably bring it to the dealer in the next week or so...

Steve, did you get a loaner car, or did they make you wait for the service to be done at PMC?

Same here...had one Q3 and one Q2 hose (both sides blew)...it's at the dealer now just so i'm sure i'll have the recall sticker attached.

I ended up getting a ride from them as they were (rather surprisingly) completely out of loaner cars, but I would've gotten a loaner car if they'd have had one because I purchased the vehicle there, and especially since it was warranty work.

By the way, I did get my letter in the mail a few days ago! Ha!
