Macho Ride Or Soccer Mom"s Wagon?
My wife claims she has seen more women driving the GL450 around town than men....don't get me wrong, I'am delighted that Mercedes has a hit with both sexes, but I didnt think I was purchasing a Lexus LX470!!! I told her that I didn't think as many GL450's were sold in this town and "Who cares?!" I'am one happy GL450 owner because it is one sweet ride.

That said, just because some folks don't know what they're for, doesn't mean there aren't people out there who can use them properly. KnowwudImean?

GL450 (Alabaster White/Black Interior)
All I can say is alot of men on this site are really not very secure in their manhood. This is now the second post as to whether the GL's are manly or not. In reality, I see more women driving these things than men in my part of town. Quite frankly, I could care less about what the break down of the male/female ownership of this car is. I love this vehicle, manly or not it is a great car and by far the best I have ever owned. The GL's have alot of features that appeal to men and alot of features that appeal to men. It is by no means the most manly car out there but I truly believe it is the best SUV out there.

I agree 100%. I'm positive most of my friends consider themselves manly men and they all drool over my wife's GL and if they get the chance they'd get one!

OK, I'm a girl and drive a GL450. My husband prefers his F150 4 x 4 to my GL...something is wrong with that man! I'm the car freak in our family.
When I see another GL, I always try to get the driver's eye. I've noticed if it's a guy driving, they will usually look over and knod or at least smile. If it's a female driving, most of the time they're yacking on their cell phone or off in oblivion somewhere and don't notice that there's another GL next to them. Being female, I'll admit, most women don't notice other cars. But there are those out there like myself who are car freaks.
Coming out of an Expedition which I truly felt was a truck, I have a hard time calling the GL a truck. To me, it feels like a car inside because it is not as huge as the inside of the Expedition. With the Expedition, I didn't mind taking it on dirt roads or driving it through brush. I find with the GL, I'm much more sensitive about taking it off road...don't want to scratch the paint!

In my town, I haven't seen a single man driving a GL. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a man driving a GL, except for when my husband drove it after I drove it during the test drive. Nice color Jen! I liked the Capri Blue as well too, but am getting a black interior due to my two boys

But you are so right. I notice that too.
And, my wife just slides under the jockey box when she sees another GL since she knows that I will stare at it and <horror> even smile at the other driver

Functionally , the GL is today in the model line what the E class 4 matic wagon was in the 1980s and 1990s : An all weather MBZ for mom and 5 little kids in the back. It's just that now you can carry "kids" bigger than 70 pounds " way back there " and they can all face forward ! No more playing " Sweet or Sour " !

My wife & I normally commute to work together (in the Audi), but on days when I choose to sleep in, she almost always picks the GL. This is very sad, since she has to walk around the SL to get the GL.

It is a great truck---------one that you can get in the mud and then clean it up and go out to a black tie dinner that evening. A beast in beautiful clothes.

Take a closer look at drivers of other SUVs. In my area it seems the majority are women drivers regardless of type. I think my testosterone levels are still OK with the GL550...
