Weird headlight issue??

I have my headlights set to
auto but I just noticed while my headlights are on
so is just one foglight,, the driverside!

Is this a short or a setting issue??

Any input appreciated.... Thx

The fog lights go on when you turn the steering wheel to that side. Hope this helps

Directional fog lamps are part of the Bi-Xenon lighting package.

I don't have that package, but I thought the directional fog lamps only go on when you are driving and doing a slow turn to the left or right (not at fast speeds) and the the fog lamp to the side you are turning goes on for better illumination. Does this also happen when you are stopped?

dsunnym1, do you have the bi-xenon lighting package?

Those are the "curve-illuminating foglamps." I wondered the same thing when I first got my GL.

Like others said, dsunnym1, question is whether you had your wheel turned to the driver's side when you noticed this?

Yup, your correct. They go on during slow turns. The regular xenon healights are in sync with the steering wheel at all speeds I believe. Also, the GL550 comes standard with the bi-xenon lighting.

My wife's niece was pulling in our driveway the other morning as I was leaving for work. I had my wheels turned a bit and she tells me one of my foglights has burned out. I had to turn the wheel the other direction to convince her it was supposed to do that.

It is pretty strange to view this from the outside. It definitely has the appearance that one light is burned out. However, from the inside, it is great. My driveway is long with multiple curves and the side-illuminating fog lights do just fine for our many foggy AM's.

I checked mine this morning. If you are traveling less than 20mph and activate the turn signal, they will also come on in the direction of the turn - even without the steering wheel being turned. If you change the turn signal to the other side, the former side goes out and the new side comes on.

You could sit at a red light and turn your fogs off and on, one side after the other by using the turn signal- folks on the opposite side of the light would think your car's crazy or you are!
