Question Adding ADSII to the GL -- Can it be done?

Since we had such a great exchange on adding Distronic to a GL, I am wondering...

Can you add ADS II to the 2008 GL 320 CDI since I can't order a 2008 GL with ADS II from the factory I am wondering -- can it be done?

If I wanted a ML I could have ADS II but for 2008 -- for some unknown reason ADS II is not available on the GL 320 CDI -- don't even get me started!??!?!

It can be added for a couple of grand. New struts, wire harness, controller, programming, and lots of labor.

If the bone heads don't allow us to order a GL 320 CDI with ADS II then I am going to go this route... I will be asking LOTS of questions for sure...

I second that. How about letting us special order any option just like BMW does! If the customer is willing to pay extra and then wait for it let them order what they want.

Your MODS look AWESOME!!! I am from MI, where do you take your cars to work on them? Do you do this work yourself, if so do you have a shop / work on other cars?

Uh Oh... Here we go again!

I'm sure GL Fahrer's input is imminent (and always appreciated). We've covered this ground before and I've always used Porsche as a model since the company happens to be the most profitable yet is able to provide the level of quality and individuality many of us seek. The real question is: Can MB develop the best of both worlds, that is retaining volume sales while permitting costumer individuality for those willing to pay? As many of us have argued, there seems to be little downside to this strategy.

I know we did cover this topic good discussion in the following thread:

How a ML owner can get ADS II in a P3 package and the GL (320 or 450) owner can't even discuss this option with MB USA is beyond frustrating to me!

Aaaaah... ADSII in the GL550, it's wonderful.

Just kidding. I don't even have my car yet, so I wouldn't know.

In markets other than USA, one can get diesels with the offroad package, too.
