End of the month is almost here!
There is only a few more days left before the end of the month. I paid $3400 + state sales tax for 3/100,000 This brings it to a total of 7 years or 100,000 miles. These cars have way to much expensive technology to be out there without the extended from MB.
This subject I have a little experience with. Fist keep in mind nether the sales manager or the sales person gets a commission on extended warranties. The profit from warranties belongs in the financial department. This is very important when it comes to negotiating a price for the extended warranty. The easiest way to get an extended warranty is to drop by a dealer other than the dealer you purchased the vehicle from. The best time is the last day of the month, or weekend. Just ask for the finance manager and ask for the best price on an extended warranty. A few hundred over cost will equal a small commission check for ZERO effort! Trust me it works…the farther away from the selling dealer the better. He has one chance to make SOME profit or NO profit!!

I looked at leasing. Problem is, at 20K miles per year, they kill you. Driving a car for 5 years is no problem for us. This is my 1st MB, but in the past, my Powerstroke diesels have retained their value exceptinally well and made a very nice down payment on the new one. I like never being upside down. I am hoping for the same result with my MB diesel. Time will tell.

Can you send me a private E-mail with the name of your dealer. My dealer only carried the third party warranty.

Latest list price for the 7yr/100K factory extended warranty for a GL : just under $6,000 plus sales tax. That's no typo.
They raised the price in May 2008 from $4120 .
They do have a new 7yr/75K option for $4200 ,lol !
I suspect they looked at their warranty expenses, esp future electrical maladies and assoc costs and have decided to scare away buyers and have them self insure or go third party.

MB Warranty used to be a farce and my dealer went to 3rd party warranties because of it. I wonder if MB has decided to make them a true warranty and therefore had to raise the price.

EXTENDED WARRANTY
The wanted about $6,000.00 because thirty days has expired since purchase. There is now a 15% surcharge if the warranty is not purchased within the first thirty days.
