Help Convince Wife on 550 vs 450

This thread brings back some good memories.
My wife was a jewel and she always just would say "Jack, if that is what you want, get it."
Oh, she would also get out the jewelry catalogs and say to me..."now how much credit do I have on this deal for my toys?" We never had an argument in 46 years and I had beautiful cars and she had beautiful jewelry...she was a very sharp lady

I suspect I'll have having the same conversation with my wife when we order a GL for her in a couple of months' time to replace her Lexus LX.
I of course would prefer the 550 for those weekend moments when I'll be driving with the family. And she prefers the 450 because it offers all the utility and towing capacity, and most of the luxuries of the 550 - with a better monthly lease payment because MB Financial usually has the programs for the 450 only.
In the end though, it's her car so she gets to choose. We agree there are a few must haves, especially for the children, like the P2 package and the RSE w/ DVD, and I'll have opinions on what else we should have - but she shall have the final say.
I'm just satisfied that I convinced her we won't be the pariahs on our street if we have two MBs in our garage!

I was in the same boat, she wanted the GL450 & I wanted to wait until GL550 to came out. I conceded, and drowned my sorrows with a new SL550. I don't think I will miss not having a GL550.

Those are the same reasons she cited to opt for the GL550! The 21” AMG wheels with fender flairs and having 1 more hp than my 997S were the real kickers.

Dude, I was just lucky enough to get my wife to talk me out of an R-class into a GL-class and make her think it was her idea. No WAY I could've 550-ed her without a second honeymoon and reaffirmation of our vows in Maui. (And with the payments on my GL, MAUI? Wowee.)
