Chrome Fin (Aerowings)

I received my fins today from formymercedes.com (Jerry) which he mailed to me on Thursday. They are the same ones PP sells for $132+shipping and he charges $99 delivered.

Thanks to the excellent tutorial by STP, the install was a snap and only took a few minutes. Here are two "arty" shot and I will shoot some better ones in the sun later.

I don't know what a jackpot is anymore...I think they sold the only machine in the place that paid them...:-)

That gold/reddish color is from the lighting in the garage...I will get some black/chrome shots tomorrow.

Those look very nice NJ. I assume they just "snap" over the black plastic fins?? I have the same colour 450 as your 550 and I think they look great.. so may go for a set of those too.

They are sized to each fin and have double sided tape. The instructions are in the box and the fins are numbered. Do some clean up of the plastic ones, take off the tape and stick them on...they advise to wet the fins before application so you can move them some before the tape grabs hold.

STP did a beautiful job with pictures showing the procedure. I will try and locate the post.

Looks great, NJ. I received the same fins from Jerry a few days ago for my black 320. When standing in front of the vehicle and placing each new fin in its proper place, fin #'s 1-6 go in order from left (passenger side) to right (driver's side), right?

By the way, for black vehicle enthusiasts, I found online at radusadirect.com, some great looking black custom painted wheel center caps outlined in chrome with the three-star chrome logo. In fact they are available in all of the current Mercedes colors.

Correct on the numbering sequence.

I am going to check them out...sound like they might look quite nice. Thanks for the tip.

I ordered a set in Obsidian Black...only 14.95+shipping. They are apparently MB OEM caps which they then paint to match your car.

Glad to hear you ordered some. Keep in mind that the price is $14.95 for each cap, plus shipping. Also, from what I've learned, the wheels have to come off the vehicle in order to change the center caps, which is done from the inside of the wheel. A minor inconvenience, I suppose.

Whoa...I had better check this out...I ordered thinking it was a set and the total was $23 with shipping. Also, no way am I going to remove the wheels to install them. Looks like I will cancel this quickly.

Edit: I just sent their sales support an email canceling the order. If it was just the pricing problem I would just add the additional 3 caps. But taking the wheels off (with wheel locks) is just not worth the look of the caps.

Chrome is definitely an addiction with a Harley. I ride a 2004 Heritage Softail and have been riding my own since '99 so I definitely relate to the chrome addiction. Oh, I also have these chrome fins on my GL!

I know what you mean, NJ. I'm having new wheel locks put on next week and since the wheels will be off, they offered to change out the caps for me.

Post some pics when you get them installed. I have a rotation coming up so maybe that would be the time to have them installed.
