Don't think I've seen under invoice on this site. It's generally anywhere from invoice to maybe a couple thousand over. Depends on the competition of the dealers in your area, availability and if you are taking out of stock or ordering, etc. Most people, self included found that the end of the month is your best time to negotiate as the dealers & salespeople need to hit their #'s and will do most anything to hit them!

There have been a lot of posts throughout this site on what people have paid and where - also dealers to stay away from. It's a great site and has helped me and a lot of people make informed decisions. The site is best after purchase as these MB's have a ton of cool yet sometimes difficult toys to figure out - and the experts are on this site daily!

Good luck!

I am in IL, anyone had luck at invoice or below? Sounds like the coasts have the best deals.

With Inventories Building And $4.00 Gas Comming, In Ca Already $3.65, You Are In A Good Bargaining Position. Locally There Are 5 Gl550's 8 Gl450's And 9 Ml's On The Lot. I Am Only Aware Of 2 550's Being Sold In A Dealership Area Of A Million Pop.

450's were easily available at 1k over invoice a year ago. I would expect invoice deals to be widely available today with many more GL's on the lot.

Fine, but $2K under? Not going to happen. Dealers do not need to take inventory in on GL's...and MB will forecast appropriately for a downturn in sales. They won't build them and give them away. That's exactly why US makers are in trouble. Build a crap load of cars and dump them for a loss... I think MB is managed better than that. People with money to spend on GL's are not as concerned about high gas prices - does it bum them out, sure. But an extra couple thousand a year in gas isn't going to kill them.

I read an add in the paper today where a local Chevy dealership has a 4WD Tahoe LTZ for $13K under MSRP. In fact, they have 4 of them.

Kinda makes you wonder why some hunt for the 1k deal (invoice or MSRP some use the terms interchangably) when you are spending well over 60K for a bare 450 or 75K for a 550 in any case. Seems like it is more time spent looking and negotiating for the deal then enjoying the car. As has been said on this forum, buying services will eliminate the middleman so use them if you don't like the middleman. Like bargaining for silver in Mexico. You don't care what you bought, but you just know you got a "good" deal. Look for the car you want and feel good if you let the salesperson make a living this week in very tough times (for them at least) at 1-2K over invoice.

I got my 2008 GL450 in Aug. for $1k under factory invoice from a dealer in the LA area. They had 20 in stock when I called and beat my best deal in Az by $3k. PM me if you want the contact info.

This is no BS.

My brother is thinking of buying one, 08 GL450. Without bargaining, dealer offered 2k under invoice.

This is in Los Angeles.

House of Imports is a joke, IMO. FJ in Newport Beach is the largest around LA.

BJ/TM - come to LA sometime and I will take you MB shopping Dealers offer invoice as the starting point. And, while I am not the expert on how MBUSA/Dealership relationships are structured, I do know that dealers have to buy, at minimum, their allocation from factory.

I am the living proof that deals can be had on GLs, especially 450s, and ones sitting on the lot.

That's a great deal if you're looking for that kind of vehicle. Similarly, local Chevy and GMC dealers are letting their Sierras and Silverados with the excellent 6.6 L diesel/six speed allison tranny combo go at $5000 under invoice with no haggle. They just show the invoice and take off $5000.

These are deals worth considering especially if you look at the savings at purchase as a really big wallet to buy fuel with. The Tahoe and Sierra/Silverado are much, much improved from a few years ago, more so with the diesel engines being available at a bargain.

If there was this kind of availability when I got my GL, I would have considered the American product (but probably would still have gone with the MB).

I was considering a Tahoe until I drove one they are still way behind in interior and drive quality.

That's what I said: if you're looking for that kind of vehicle, and although I would have considered one I think I would still have bought my GL. Still, the GM products are vastly improved from a couple of years ago, and, for many people, worth a look now due to their fire sale pricing.

I bought my C3500 LTZ in 3/07. It was one of the first of the new body styles to roll off the line. I got it for $2500 under invoice + 0% interest for 36 months + $500 credit for equipment add-ons. About a month ago, I purchased for the company, a Ford twin turbo, foreman's truck for $5300 under invoice. Funny thing, Chevy was not dealing that well at the time.
