Back end rattle.....found it!

After much frustration with a rattle/vibration noise somewhere back there, I found it! Turns out to be the sunshade for the back sunroof.......when it is extended, it will vibrate/rattle on rough roads - move it back into the retracted position....no vibration. I have a lot of stuff stored in the back.....seldom ever use the 3rd row seats so it took a long process of elimination before I could find this..........I hate rattles but I hate ones that I can't identify even more Yes I know....... if I have just sat someone in the back I probably would have found this much sooner, but the wife doesn't like those kinds of projects. Anyway.....anyone having "vbration/rattles" back there might take a look at the shade

Many thanks. There is nothing more maddening than a squeak or a rattle from a 75K vehicle.

Good call. I have noticed that rattle as well. I will give it a shot.

That also drove me crazy for the first two days I owned my GL. It will be addressed when I take the car in for the first service! The part needs to be redsigned so it's not hard plastic on hard plastic. A soft rubber coating on the clip would deaden the sound from the vibration produced on rough roads.

Agree......I think I may attempt to engineer my own "soft rubber coating"' (or something similar ) solution as I am not certain MB will have one for us.
