Recommended Tire size for 22" Wheel????
22X10 wheel. Tirerack recommended tire size are 295/35/22 but the tire are very expensive at $350 each.
Can I go with 285/35/22? (much cheaper)
Can front tire be 265 or 275 rear with 305??
Thanks for the info!!!

This should help:

285/40/22 is just about perfect but 295/40/22 is in the acceptible range. 305/35/22's would be in the range but I'm not sure they would fit in the wheel wells.

He also has a 450 and with his set up his wheels are nicely tucked in. I think if you go wider than that it could stick out a little bit specially without flares. On my Range Rover I started with 295/35/22 but eventually upgraded to 305/40/22 and was much happier. The 305's just made the fenders, you don't want your wheels to stick out, the car looks unbalanced and it just looks that you didn't do enough research. And by the way, you want to invest on 22 rims but want to skimp out on tires? The right tires can make or break the ride quality and handling of the vehicle. And no, don't go staggered because you can't rotate your tires. Good luck.

305/35-22 in the pirelli scorpians are the tire to get, but they are expensive.
I bought them from tire rack on the Avarus rims 22x10 I believe. fit great and no rubbing.
If I was to do it again, would possibly went with the 305/40-22. Slightly larger than oem in diameter, but was a lot cheaper and would fill the large wheel wells better.
Search this forum, someone has the 305/40 on a dark red/burgundy gl

oem size 265/60-18 up ....775 mm tall (up to ~785mm for factory 20's)
305/35-22 772mm
285/35-22 758mm
295/40-22 795mm
275/45-22 806mm
305/40-22 803mm
I pulled these numbers off of bigwheels.net
Ideally you should stay as close as you can to oem. I like as wide of a tire as possible.
Correction to my previos post. My avartus AV2 are 22x9.5 with an offset of 50mm. I think your 54mm rims (assuming 9.5 inches wide) would be 2mm further "in"...I'm not 100% sure about offsets. I do know that a lower number means the rims is further "out" in the wheel well. That should be fine for the 305/35-22 tire.
