Range is the biggest plus of owning a diesel though. 600miles per tank makes long drives very relaxing.

It just seems logical with a weak dollar and strong euro that '09 prices will go up. There is always a annual increase of somekind...if nothing else inflation will create some kind of increase. With gas prices up, the cost of living index has got to go up with it.

I take your point but couldn't it be argued that with the tanking economy and weak dollar that people are not buying top of the range new cars like they once did? In which case driving up the price would just send dealers out to pasture. A $1k increase perhaps, but I don't expect anything drastic. At least I hope not.

Oh, get over it.
There's no such thing as a regular gas Mercedes.

"Come to US?"
GLs are built in Alabama and all the GL420CDIs are built there, too. They just don't go to MBUSA, which thinks diesels are for economy freaks. No Off Road Pro package for USA GLs, either

If there are teeth in the coming mileage standards to be applied to SUV's and light trucks - similar to the changes coming in cars, diesel offerings are likely to increase dramatically in the near and intermediate term, IMO. Barring some unforeseen breakthrough technology, I would not be surprised to see 4-8 cylinder diesels throughout the MB line-up in 5 years. AMG 63's with 10 mpg could be dinosaurs.
