Off to the Snow.....

Should be a good experience..........tires are critical, however. Looking forward to comparing notes! I'll be heading back up to the Vermont mountains in January.
Welcome.....and enjoy the new ride!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Jack - awesome picture! I agree that you should send it to Marriott.
Brian - beautiful shot of the tree through the window & love the elk! I know they're probably pests to you but to us flatlanders who don't get to see them very often, they are beautiful.
I just wish I could get them to not crap all over the yard and eat all of the flowers. It seems the dog always finds the crap before me and enjoys watching the elk as much as the flatlanders do.
By the way... I triple dog dare you!

I can only imagine the search term he entered into Google when up pops the track web-site. Kind of wish I had kept my TrailBlazer to put those puppies on. They certainly won't be replacing my AMG's.

I know, which is why I went directly to the triple dog dare. I figured if it worked for Ralphie, then maybe it'd work for me.
By the way, as noted in another thread......don't try to use your "downhill control" to maintain control going down ice or hard packed snow roads..........it makes things worse.....use your lower gears and apply the brakes yourself as needed.
Oh, snap. Now all I need is some snow to drive in! Wait - these would kick BUTT at the sand dunes just west of Yuma. C'mon, some dude whipping around in a sand rail and just over the next hill, a GL on MatTracks romping around with him!
I gotta see if someone can get me these for Christmas. I think they fit most bolt patterns.

No amount of traction control gadgetry can even come close to excellent dedicated winter tires with strong grip going downhill.
1. No it's not mentioned anywhere in the manual, and 2. the real purpose of the downhill control is to provide more precise control going down steep slopes in "off-road" situations ( no snow or ice involved ) where traction is still available.......under those circumstances, the DH control on the GL (and other vehicles similarly equipped ) works amazingly! Given that ..... most of us will never use the DH function. Sort of like the "low range" function......some folks think that low range will help you maintain traction on ice and snow...very little benefit there....low range simply gives you fantastic torque to help you pull or move very slow under heavy load.

Thank you!
