I could be totally wrong, but I don't think an AMG version is coming for the GL. That doesn't rule out another Premier Edition for the 450 though in MY'09.

If you look closely you will see I have wheel locks...it's the round one with the little serrated design in the middle. I had them installed at delivery because guys from LA love em to death...:-)

Angelenos don't love the wheel locks as much as we love the wheels. So when you visit, don't bring the locks and see how much love you get

Last year they were insisting there would be neither a GL550 or GL63. I asked a MB guy at the San Francisco Auto Show in Nov '06 flat out if they would ever build a 550 and he assured me they would not. 
I didn't really believe him. So, I don't think we can totally rule out an AMG.

V8+ owners are driving one. AMG is de-proliferating.
And in the "Large Luxury SUV" segment, no one is interested in one.
Oh yeah...there is no AMG planned for lifecycle of the X164.

Nah, those are Lorinser wheels. Why would AMG test a vehicle with a different tuner wheels? Those pictures have been around the net but without any indication that it was an AMG, just pure speculation.

NJ, unfortunately, don't get too comfortable with those wheel locks. They only stop the most novice of thieves. Anyone even the slightest bit serious about removing your wheels will have them removed in seconds. I have them also but I wouldn't leave my vehicle anywhere suspect for too long a period.
