it would be a shame if your lovely GL 320 went to sleep with the fishes...so be sure it is tightly locked, the alarm is on, and you know where it is at all times...you don't want anyone to start wondering, "Where did that really cool diesel SUV go?...."

svalko- and now a word from somebody in the know...

your truck retail is 65k in a state that does not allow new diesels, 58k wholesale (what a dealer will give you for it). put it in autotrader.com slightly lower at what the others in the region are asking for those.

to the people that think they can get clean "package 1" gl 320cdi for less than 50k - feel free to send me the leads- i will buy as many as you can find me right now.

now, the best scenario for you is to work with the lender - promise you will insure the vehicle at home and provide proof of insurance to the lien-holder so they will release the truck out of the country. it is a gray area and will your personal skills will make or break the deal. give it a try.

good luck

alex

Thank's alx! It looks like, I am not going to be able to sell my house either. So now I am working, to refinance my mortgage, so I will use the eqiuty of the house, to pay off the truck. And I will rent the house for now, until the market become better for sale.Than I can get my money back. This is the plan so far.

the 320 is HARD to find right now... I wouldn't give mine up. Theres people out there who would snap it up, but you're gonna suffer some sort of loss.

Wait till unleaded is $4/gal this summer... see how hard it is to sell.

take it out of the country... how the hell would anyone know? get a US PO Box.. simple.

Have you tried to contact the lender directly? I cannot recall where I read but you may be able to have a letter issued by the lender authorizing you to take the car out of the country and continue to make payments on the vehicle. Anything is possible with direct withdrawl or electronic payment options these days. It will be difficult, but it is worth a shot.

Have you tried getting a European lender to refinace the loan? I don't know how much it would cost for shipping and tarrif charges but because the MSRP is so much higher in Europe, the LTV should be satisfactory.

"MSRP" may be a bit misleading in that the USD to EURO forex rate is close to its all time high and most European countries have a VAT which has a significant impact on the consumer price of a vehicle

Our $75K vehicle in the good old USA may cost $125K by the time it gets to Germany or Denmark for example. The real incremental costs are transportation, customs/duty, clearing costs and VAT (most of which are incurred in E$, not US$).

Agreed, but it still might be a better option, if it is an option.
