I dont understand why we cant get that here in the U.S. Mercedes would sell those things like crazy.

By the way...the video is of an E-Class. Pretty gutsy in the rain though
The 420 engine was not developed with the USA in mind. Therefore it cannot be certified (for the EPA) without some major development. This engine is only allowed in europe and nowhere else.

Top speed of the GL420cdi is 143mph. 130 mph max for the GL320 is fast enough for me.

See what happens when I am tired. Watching a number of GL videos and
saw that one. I can not believe, did not catch it being a E-class since I
drive one. I thought quite ballsy moving that fast on the ground in the rain.

Every road test you ever read of these states it's a fuel hog.

MBUSA is not interested in having diesel and "fuel hog" be synonymous in the USA.

Besides, they already paid to have four drivetrains certified for USA sale. Personally, I'd rather have the 5th be the V6 diesel + ORP.
