Ipod Volume
On my GL, i had the newest iPod kit #, with volume set on highest setting in MF steering, and still had issues with crazy low volume. I complained to the dealer today, had them try installing the new 204 inline amp, set the ipod to low volume, and voila, PERFECT...plus they didn't charge me-they said they will fight with MB over how to code it as warranty work.
If anyone else has this issue, look at the audio/electronics forum, and this should explain the whole process...just thought i'd pass this along.

Take the print-out from the Audio forum with you, because the inline amp part says that it is for the 08 C; you'll have to convince them to try it on yours...Good Luck!

Yesterday, I had the 204 inline amp installed in my GL, and WOW, what a difference. It's amazing what a measly $0.10 part will do. As has been mentioned by others here, my dealer couldn't believe the cost of this part, but did honor the price, and they did not charge me for the installation. I tried both, my son's IPOD and my IPHONE, and they worked beautifully. The sound was great with lots of bass (especially after hearing my son's metal music which was a good test), and there were no issues with my bluetooth sound or connection, including when the IPHONE was in use playing music on the Ipod setting. This is a must buy for IPOD enthusiasts, and you can't beat the price .

My dealer told me they had to get inside the dash; that they took the radio out (I assume that means the Command System) to install the part. As previously stated, I was not charged for this service as my service adviser acknowledged that there have been widespread complaints of low volume and inefficient sound coming from many IPODS.

Installed the inline amp for IPOD yesterday.. WOW what a difference!! Pretty easy install.. took me maybe 15 minutes .. only tool required is the torx key to open 2 screws for command unit removal. Dealer did not even charge me the $ 0.11 for the part.

I had the iPod integration kit dealer-installed when I took delivery of the vehicle about two weeks ago. The iPod volume seems fine - maybe a little bit lower than the radio, but perfectly acceptable (not "crazy low") as others have said. I wonder if, in light of this issue, dealers are now installing the in-line amp with the unit as a matter of course or if this is a newer integration unit without the volume issue. I checked the hidden diagnostic menu via the steering wheel and the volume was already at the higher setting.

unable to access the volume menu
I am unable to access the volume memu to adjust the ipod volume using the down arrow and the phone end button. My sound using the ipod is distorted like it has too much bass or bass is being routed through my tweeters. i took the car back to the dealer and was told to basically live with it as it was what it was. i do have the 204 M-B amplifier installed.
when i press the phone button it indicates my phone has not been activated. I do not have the phone kit in my car....does this make a difference in being able to access the volume setting? should i have this activated?
I am also looking at adding the navtv phone kit will the phone have to be activated at mercedes or does the navtv come with the instructions or disc to activate the phone function?
Thanks.
