2007 GL 450 needs..............

New brake pads and rotors btw I'm at 33k miles right now and for those that are not familiar with other Mercedes products, thats amazing. My question is how much should I expect to dish out on new pads and rotors.

What happened that you needed new rotors? Is there any kind of indicator when you are getting close on the brake pads?

I had a faulty sensor on my GL telling me I needed them changed after 10K miles I'm currently at 20K miles and stille the same, even with a lot o spirited driving, had some hard braking from 150 mph to 60 a lot of times

In the MFD there will be a service message telling you that the brake pads a worn

Were you in Switzerland at the time of this "performance" braking? I hear they'll put you in jail for just about anything there, especially having to do with cars!

No Germany and Denmark, but in Denmark i Lose my license at 100 mph
But going home from skiing in france in my fathers ML63 i gathered 5 speeding tickets in Switzerland, all in all $1250 and the fastest was 15 miles over the speed limit, most of them just 4 mph over the limit.

I don't know if you've ever driven in the US but it's kind of funny; they set the limits, then give you between 7-11 mph above before you'll get a ticket (it's usually 11mph for the photo tickets). I've been in California, being passed by people while doing 15mph over the speed limit (55 at that time), and one of them was a cop. In fact, just about the only time you'll get a serious ticket is if you a) speed more than 5mph over (sometimes less) in a small town where it's obvious you're not from the town (great revenue generation) or in an active school zone (15mph and not 1mph greater).

One thing I really disliked about driving in the UK was that in construction zones they'd average your speed from start to finish (with the speed cameras) to see if you'd averaged 1mph greater than the construction limit. Oh, and the congestion charge in London was a pain.

If you go aftermarket (which I would recommend), check out the products from Dave Zeckhausen (http://store.zeckhausen.com). Rotors and pads together would be $496 plus shipping (are you sure the rotors are shot?). It's an easy DIY job, or you can take it to your local garage.

I put these pads on my GL last summer and am thrilled. No more brake dust, and they perform just as well as OEM.
