Where Do You Find Service Bulletins

I will be taking my GL 320 in for Service A in a couple weeks. I have been trying to recount all the service issues that have been previously mentioned. I'm not sure if they will check these automatically or if I need to mention it to them. I know there is the oil line from the turbo, the oil level sensor, the airmatic system issue. Any others and where do you find these bulletins?

If you trust your dealership (or, I should say, your service shop), they can check for open bulletins by your VIN.

I do trust my dealership, but not blindly - I want to check myself for any open issues on my GL450.

Is there no way for us owners to check this ourselves ?

Thanks,

Orn

All USA Mercedes service bulletins are available on the Internet to all USA persons interested.

All it takes is a subscription at http://www.startekinfo.com

A one-day subscription makes the most sense, and in that time you can download them all plus download the equivalent of a complete service manual.

Thanks, Kent, and I agree that 1 day subscription makes most sense. I guess I will now spend a weekend doing this

How different is this list from, say, an LX? Could this type of list be used to accuse a model of being "less reliable?" Or is this typical of any car?

Maybe Michael Karesh from True Delta could weigh in on this issue.

Pretty long list. I wonder what's the criteria to be listed, i.e. how many occurences of each problem does it take before it ends up in a TSB? I guess the problem must be reported by more than one before it is listed? Judging from this forum, a lot of these items I haven't seen reported by the owners. Some I have seen, but most were new to me.

What, in your opinion, is the "equivalent of a complete service manual."? I have been rooting around and don't see anything similar.

Just go through the basic groups--engine, exhaust, electrical, etc. and dowload all the procedures. That's all there is anywhere and it's the same stuff that's on the Service DVDs except completely up to date. Somewhere on there I suspect there are also links to electrical diagrams, but I didn't look for them last time I subscribed.

New to the forum and to owning a Mercedes. I have alreay found a lot of useful info. I picked up my new GL320 on 4/14/08. Should all of these TSB issues be corrected since my car was built on 4/9 and 4/10? Thanks!

Welcome to the friendliest forum on the internet bseph...! Join the community of quite a collection of characters with some great (but at time strange) senses of humor.

A lot of the TSB needs are incorporated into the production line and some are done by dealers at your service appointments. If you have problems you can have them addressed at your first introductory service and other as they occur. They will usually update your vehicle with any current or past issues...if not mention them to your service advisor. Keep in mind many on the list are advisories to dealerships service departments and might not apply to your specific vehicle.

And, remember Jack of Nevada is the patron saint of this community so do not offend him even if he exhibits the said "great (but at time strange) senses of humor".

How's that saying go..."If the shoe fits, wear it...."

You have to admit we see some "strange" responses at times, but most are with the LOL icon which is what makes this group so unique. A newcomer may need some orientation or he/she will flee the scene in a daze....

If you still have access, can you look up the TSB on the Rear Seat Entertainment system not working? I saw the TSB for it, now I would like to hear the fix

I only got a one day subscription back in early April and don't have access anymore. But, if I do go back anytime soon, I will pull that one. If you can refer the TSB # to the dealer that will help them a but. Hopefully, yours is nothing severe and should be an easy fix.
