JDT1, I second the motion, any update on the door lock chirp? My dealer looked at me as if I were crazy, stating there's no such thing - only flashing lights and folding mirrors.

 

Yea, I'm hoping that MB Fanatic can shed some light on the door chirp issue. In a previous thread, sometime back, he said he had it activated by his dealer and would report back on how, once he confers with his dealer. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a must have. If I had it, I might consider deactivating the folding mirror feature, if for no other reason than to keep the mirrors small motors from wearing out or malfunctioning. Folding in the mirrors is a nice, impressive feature, but in my warped way of looking at things, I'm concerned that some joker may try to get his jollies by pulling on one and damaging it when he sees it folded in. I know, I know, that's what we have insurance for.

 

You peps need to hit the lock button while you are still a few feet from the truck so you hear the locks going down and see the lights flash and the mirrors fold in...it's enough for me. I can't stand the chirps.

OK So here is the update. Certain GL's within a certain build slot can be activated to chirp with Star Diagnostics. You must have Keyless Go however. The foreman couldnt find out which build slot it was but said the change made was a running change to some control unit for the Central Locking System.

So I am thinking quite a few people may be out of luck as the newer build GL's and very early build GL's cannot be activated to chirp. He did mention that the MY09 will have some major changes to the electronics and hopefully they can reactivate the chirp for MY09 forward.

 

It's my forte, I did standup comedy for a while. (Locally.) Gotta think on yer feet. That took me about 10 seconds. But now I've seen a couple better ones! I think Nish's was the funniest - "COckpit Management And Data!" Hysterical!

 

Thanks, MB. Sounds like a logical explanation you got from your dealer....more than I can say for mine. I don't have the Keyless Go, so I guess I can put this idea under wraps. Thanks again.

I think the mouse joystick died and went to...(who knows where). An OK button now appears in its place.

 

I previously posted a response to the question of the joystick but after clicking "submit reply" don't know where it went...probably posted to another forum or so.

The joystick appears to be dead and gone. In its place for '09 is an OK button surrounded by arrow buttons which appears to be more effective.

Can you pee in the urea tank and dispense with the MB additive, it is what it is or is it not?

 

Please don't post pictures of that procedure to the forums. (Though that'd be funny as hell!)

I believe it's not urine but urea, which is a by-product of urine.

Anyone know if the MY2009 GL450/550 order/options list is already available? Or when will MY2009 GL be available for order?

 

Dealers should have it in the next couple weeks. I have a prelim. order in place but have to finalize options and colors once the information comes out via NetStar.

 

Would be grateful if someone could forward a copy to me when the finalized version becomes available. Thanks in advance.
