Lined up three-deep to test drive GL CDI
Popped in my dealer Saturday to measure the hitch height on the GL to see if I needed to buy a new ballmount, and when I was there one group was going out in the dealers only GL CDI. Before I left, three other groups had shown up to do the same... Not bad for a truck that is over $70,000 up here and a town of under one million.

Ball height should always match the trailer... the frame of the trailer should be level after the Magic air suspension re-levels the rear end of the GL.

It varies with the trailer.
My question, does the GL adjust back to it's original height after the trailer's weight is added? If so, you can level your trailer and measure the ideal height before you buy the receiver hitch. There's nothing worse than towing a trailer with a hitch that is too low. I would rather it be a little high rather than low.

Right, my trailer being level would need a ball height of 17.5" due to flipped axle, so 12.5 (what I measured on the GL)+ 5= 17.5, then all the airmatic has to do is level for tongue weight. I own this ballmount already from another setup, so if it looks wrong, I can always try somthing else later.

I have seven different trailers with seven different ball heights (two boats, a car carrier, jet ski trailer, utility trailer for ATV's, kayak trailer, Hobie Cat trailer) and therefore seven different receiver hitches and four different ball sizes. There is no standard height. My experience is that the front suspension height isn't adjusted - the GL just pumps up the back to standard height when a tounge weight is added. Because of all the receivers and related dirt, we have them stored in codura zipped holders with labels so we can grab and go for whatever is being towed today.

Guys, I know there is no standard trailer height, I'm asking about the second standard height you refer to, that being of the GL's hitch pumped back up, as you say. On the one I measured, I got a height of 12.5 inches to the top of the receiver, as long as that is correct, I'm good to go.
