Arrow Tahoe Hy vs. GL CDI "Smackdown!" Video

Video from Edmunds. GL wins in every metric, yet they declare the battle a tie, due to the fact that the Tahoe is "bigger and not a premium brand". I wonder how much GM paid for that one?

Also, the comments are pretty funny.

OH EM GEE. You must be friggin' kidding. And of course, with that type of result, all the comments are on how Americans are fat and need the extra space in the Tahoe to haul their fat butts around to McDonald's. Man, I am getting way tired of America bashing. The Benz is built in the U.S., too!

The real joke is on those posters, as the GL has way more usable room for fat butts, than the Tahoe ever would... my fave is the guy that says the GL is the same size as the SSR, and another who says the Tahoe seats 2-3 more people for the same gas money.

That's pretty good. I wonder why they didn't compare it to an Escalade hybrid. I bet the cost would be more even then. Or is the Escalade hybrid not out yet?

I'm still trying to get past the fact that it took a V8 gas engine plus electrics to get acceleration equal to MB's smallish turbocharged diesel inside a truck nearly as big as the Tahoe, and they're still calling it a tie. Wild.

Dude, it must be all that McDonalds going to your head...
...just kidding, the comments reflect the audience the vid was obviously designed for.

Seriously though, that's not the only thing that confuses me, why on earth do they call it "smackdown" ? GL lays down the beats in every test, yet they still refuse to declare it a winner? I think GM paid for that spot.

IMHO the GL wins hands down on styling alone. The Tahoe is a big, ugly box.

The fact that GM probably helps sponsor their website or is one of the biggest sponsors of that website might not have anything to do with it. I wouldn't be caught dead in that GM box. Did you see the rubber ground effects all around the bottom front bumper it looks like some high school kid designed that and glued it on. I agree with one comment about the GM the Nav unit is better due to being touch screen and thats it.

The part where the Tahoe goes through the cones is classic, and the joke is further enhanced with that big rubber air dam you refer to...

Not that I'm excusing the several-generations-behind NAV unit the GL has, but that's the focus of the GM - "Put enough pretty toys in it and they won't notice they can't do any emergency maneuvering or that they're hauling around a couple hundred pounds of batteries."

I think.
