Congratulations Jack. First an R (almost), an S, a GL, now an SL. I am stuck with the same car I had when I started reading your adventures. Good luck and a fine choice you made.
A little off topic, and I apologize, but did you ever take any of those semi-off road trips with your camera? I can imagine what quality photos you must have if you ever did.
See you on down the road.

Except for the cross country jaunt I have not made many lonely road stops. Thanks for the compliments on the images... I enjoy the camera almost as much as I do cars.

I never imagined I'd be reading the SL forum but I'll start now. I find buying great new cars is an extremely satisfying experience - albeit an expensive one. The switch from from a truck to a grand tourer should prove to be highly enjoyable for many months. Perhaps even setting the stage for a diesel truck or station wagon in the distant future.

Thanks wigwam. That is a great idea... infiltrate the SL forum and take it over. Maybe you could all get together and do a group buy...I am sure Greg in Denver would be more than happy to help out...:-)

First of all CONGRATS for the new SL550. BTW, I always wanted to get this; but, due to wife and kids does not make sense to get it know. But, eventually, one day I would like to own one. "Enjoy the new ride in good health" quoted back to you.

Congrats Jack......always appreciated your comments, particularly a little over a year ago when many of us ( you included ) were all going through the "order and wait process!"

Thanks atwal. yes the SL is not a family car...:-) I have owned three of them in the past and they were perfect for just my wife and I, mostly her. But when the kids leave that is the time to enjoy an SL for all the hard work through the years.

Well what can I say ... it'll be the end of an era. I'll try and check in though I'll be in Stockholm until the 8th and then Scotland until the 16th. As much as I regret losing you, Jack (without ever having met you, for goodness' sake!), I understand that an artist needs a new canvas. With what you did for GL photography, I'll bet we see a surge of activity on the SL forum!
Of course I'll check in with you once in a while, too. Maybe one day we'll actually shake hands? (Don't know why that wouldn't happen!)
Cheers,
STP

Thanks...yeah I remember those times well. This forum is unique with great input and people with great senses of humor. Has been a pleasure and I am sure I will not be a stranger here...have met too many good friends.

Absolutely on that handshake... the next roundup in LV or CO or LA will have a non-GL participant with his camera...:-) Have a great time in EU and UK...
From the looks of things I am going to have to wake up the SL board. 163 views and 6 response (4 of which are mine) on my introduction post. Got some work to do...

Speaking of cross-country trips, if you make another one on I-20, I will try to hook up with you when you pass through Dallas-Ft.Worth. I wanted to get a photo of you driving down the highway last time and get it posted before your next motel stop, but I had bad timing. Well, maybe next time. Good luck with whatever your plans are. Keep the stories and photos coming.

I guess I was one of those 163 views, but I chose to reply over here. This is definitely a more active forum.

Can I ask why the 2008 and not the 2009? Looks? Again, congrats on a great purchase.
