Can I ask why the 2008 and not the 2009? Looks? Again, congrats on a great purchase.
Hey MB...thanks. Decision was easy on the '08 vs the '09... money...:-) With $18,000+ off the '08 it was a no brainer for me. The S63 is still in my dream book...on the last page...:-)Originally Posted by MB Fanatic
Jack, welcome to the SL Club. Only if we could have convinced you to get the SL63.

I know exactly, but I 20 is usually smooth sailing through DFW. Word to the wise, avoid I 30. You have two downtowns and several construction sites to deal with.Originally Posted by Nevada Jack
Now that would be real time traffic data...:-) I usually take I-20 so if I take this rocket east I will let you know. I am not a fan of Dallas-Ft.Worth traffic patterns if you catch my drift...Thanks...
Hope you don't mind getting Nikon'd, I don't have a Canon.

I'll have to turn off my Nikon detector so you get an image instead of nothing but artifacts...Originally Posted by Can Drive 55

Jack,
Back in a previous job I used to drive MB test cars in Stuttgart. I really miss those days.
I think I drove about all of their cars and to be honest, the one which left me with the best memories was the SL. Can't describe the feeling of driving it.... What a pitty you can't take it to the autobahn. That would be even more fun because it is made to drive fast. 160mph and it did not even move when overtaking trucks at 60mph. Sure it also has the sexiest curves MB ever designed.
I am sure you'll love it.
It's the perfect car when the kids are out of the house...

Enjoy the meet, guys. Probably be last time Jack's 550 will be pictured in a group setting

Thanks...it will feel good to have a SL again, but this one so far exceeds the earlier ones. I can' wait for the ride home over the Rockies and all those curves...:-)Originally Posted by bkdewitte

Too bad all these fine people won't fit in your SL like they would in your GL, Jack. I'm calling shotgun in the SL Originally Posted by Nevada Jack

Congratulations NJ on the SL 550 - I love the SL, fabulous machine. Does that mean we won't be seeing you in the GL forums regularly?

No, I'll be here checking up on you guys (and gals) and making sure pictures are being posted.Originally Posted by ReachWest

The GL is cool BTW!
Love my R350! Feel stupid for buying the ML first and complaining it rode like a truck the past four years lol. Yes that article is wrong on so many things, mine seats 7, 6 adults comfy...gets the same gas mileage as my ML did..and has more rear seat room than the S class...all for around $48k well equipped.Originally Posted by bigben320e
I happen to love my R500, and so do many others I know and on the forum. I suppose your viewpoint is subjective. Opinions vary. That article has quite a few things incorrect on it as well. The GL is cool BTW!
Looks like Saturday or Tuesday at the latest.
Posted a shot on the pic thread and a URL for a few more of a twin SL550 in a parking garage with my GL in the background.

Hmm should we try to organize an SL Vegas meet now?

Thanks, but I think that goes for all the fine people on this forum... we know a great one when we see it. With a GL or SL, how can we miss....:-)Originally Posted by lwain56

Congratulations, Jack! I always loved the looks of the SL in its many iterations, even when I was strictly a BMW guy. Enjoy it in good health, you deserve it!
By the way, I'm taking many pictures with my 40D, but post-processing with my old PC has been very slow. I'm about to make the jump back to Mac, so hopefully I'll have some images to share with you soon.
