Dead 320

Took my gl320 info tranny issue..kicking while it was cold....When to get in it and it wouldnt unlock, they tested it and said there is some draw somewhere that drained the battery..they kept it to do some more research..About a month ago the replaced the fuel pump, and after that is when the car starting kicking, and now it drained the battery..do you think its just coincedance or has anyone else had any issues with dead battery..Truck is 13 months old with about 21k miles

I believe there is a TSB about battery drain. Check here for MD TSB's.

Well i just got offf the phone with my SA,.the final determination was after the head service guy looked at it and spoke with MBUSA, was that the tranny needs replaced.Remeber it went in originally for tranny hard shifting, and than the battery went dead, apparently the tranny had a draw on an inconsistant basis and thats what was killing the battery...I asked him uf they are putting a new or rebuilt tranny in it and he told me i new one, hopefully hes telling the truth. I never heard of any other trannies being replaced within the year and only 21k miles, has anyone else, and if so did they get new or rebuilt??? Do they have to tear car apart to replace it?

you would have one serious lawsuit against MB on your hands if you got a rebuilt transmission...

I would involve your insurance company only for this reason: if the insurance company is good they should work with you to ensure that the dealer installs a new tranny and not a rebuilt tranny, as this affects the subsequent liability of the insurance company. Many insurance companies will work with you to get OEM parts into the car, and new rather than rebuilt for cars less than one year old.

I cannot figure out why I am pro insurance this evening - rarely is this the case...But I'd involve them to add a bit of extra pressure on the dealer...

I would not think that they would replace the transmission with a rebuilt one. It would make no sense. The old transmission will probably be returned to Germany for breakdown and analysis. They either have one or will have one shipped from Germany.

I would not sweat it...

I wouldn't worry about it - it is a warranty repair and MB would NEVER put used parts in on warranty.
