May I recommend the "E" forum? I think that as a group we're not familiar with the "E"'s COMAND system.

There are situations with the MB BT system where all you're going to get is a hands-free device. Which, honestly, is better than nothing.

The iPhone 3G works fine with the GL Bluetooth puck. Uploads phonebook, no problem. Flawless since I got the 3G in late July.

The only thing that I did, per the advice of the members here was to eliminate the space in the phone's model number. Prior to that it would not connect at all. After doing that it always connects and I get my address book and have no real issues - ironically thought, now it doesn't connect with my wifes car (I have to put the space back) and when my car is off the stupid things still answers the calls becasue my car is in the garage so now I have to disconnect bluetooth when I'm home.

I really don't know why you aren't getting the same reaction if you have the same as I do - 08 E350 with puck and the Dare - unless the newer Dares have different SW.

Im sure you guys have figured this out by now, but for some reason, the LG phones do not want to download the address book...not sure why, but every single LG phone we've connected will not do this...MB says it's just the model and only certain one's will do it with the puck.

It seems hit or miss to me. Some do, some don't - it works for me, but not for Drnopain. It's nice that Bluetooth is supposed to be an industry standard!

Perhaps cell phone compatibility is influenced by the network's technology (CDMA vs. TDMA). Consider posting your cell phone carrier long with your question so other readers do not misinterpret answers. Just my 2 cents, but I believe this where a lot of confusion about compatibility begins and ends.

It has to do with the "version" of the Bluetooth software.

STP - can the S/W on the BT be flashed to accommodate new cell phones or releases?

AFAIK, no, but I've been wrong before. I believe for some reason that Bluetooth is one of those technologies without any semblance of standardization.
