Bluetooth and LG Dare VX-9700

I thought I'd post this in case anyone was thinking of getting Verizon's new i-clone offering, the LG Dare, and was wondering whether it would work well with the MB bluetooth module (I was). After some initial fiddling, I was able to pair the phone and to download contacts, last numbers dialed, etc. Everything works great, with two minor exceptions - speed dials and call waiting.

On my old RAZR V3m, you could just press and hold 1, 2, 3, etc. (or press the number and hit send) and it would call the assigned speed dial. That no longer seems to work. Also, call waiting information doesn't appear on the screen, whereas I think with the RAZR this information appeared but didn't allow you to switch to the incoming call using the COMAND unit. Other than that, everything works great.

BTW, IMHO the Dare is a great phone if you want to stay on Verizon's reliable network but have more functionality. It also has a very good camera for a cell phone (3.2 Megapixels).

Has anyone tried the new 3g Apple I Phone on their GL system? I have the bluetooth plug in module and the Razr works great but was considering an I Phone.

I dare you to try the iPhone 3G. It'll make you change networks.

But in all seriousness, gracias for the info.

GL 450 bluetooth and LG DARE

Hi,
I need some help! I just upgraded my phone to the LG DARE via Verizon and I am having compatibility issues with the GL 450 bluetooth module. I have random issues where the bluetooth, automatically sync up with my phone and 9 out of 10 times the connection is NEVER made and thus I have to manually sync to the bluetooth. Also, my phone will show that the bluetooth is connected but on the Comand screen shows that my phone is off. Also, once the connection is made, as I am driving, I will randomly lose the connection and the comand screen shows my phone is off. Random huh?

What do I need to do? Am I pretty much SOL? I understand there is an approved phone list that is guaranteed to work with the module, but isn't there something I can do so I can have trouble free, hands free time?

Any info will greatly be appreciated.

Try removing the space from the name of the phone in the bluetooth setup menu (i.e. "LGVX9700" instead of "LG VX9700", which is the default). After I did this the phone reconnected flawlessly each time.

I've paired my iPhone 3G with my S550, and ML63 and it worked perfectly in both cars. Received calls, dialed calls, phone book, everything worked great. Im guessing since it worked in the ML, it'll work in the GL because they both use the same COMAND and bluetooth module.

Dunno, I just seemed to recall other situations where a space created issues in the world of technology, so I tried it and it worked. Glad to help.

Does anyone know if the Blue Tooth puck in the 08 E350 would be the same as you have in your GLs?

I'm thinking of getting the Dare and wireless4mb recommended not to get it (in genenral) for connecting, but from what you guys say it works the same way my current phone does. I notice that if I leave the car (running) and come back I have to manually reconnect every time.

For me it's a toss up between the Dare (which my company pays for) and the iPhone (which it does not pay for-cheap *******s).

But I don't want a phone that won't work with my Blue Tooth.

I suppose I could always try it and if it doesn't work I have 30 days to send it back

Okay, first off, that's a creepy lookin' picture you got there, dude. THE EYES ARE STARING AT ME! AAAAAAH!

Second, I'm using the VX9900 and unless I stay pretty close to the truck I have to manually re-connect every time as well. Also, my phone thinks it's connected to the unit for a couple of minutes after I turn the car off, which is something it doesn't do for other Bluetooth connections (including C300 loaners and wireless Motorola headsets). So that's kinda normal, I think, and not a phone-specific deal.

I have the same thing now - if I'm outside the car and the car is off (for hours even) and my phone rings, the car picks it up.

THe VX9900 is the Dare? Does it to work well otherwise? I assume the BT is the same in the E350.

My avatar freaks everyone out That's the idea.

The 9900 is the ENV, not the dare I'm afraid, but yes it works otherwise, including the phonebook and much of the call lists (though quite a few of them come up as DV, which means there's a call there but the system can't see what the number was).

The phone book, however, does not work with the newer integrated Bluetooth on the C300 loaners I get.

Creepy picture, dude. Creepy!

Thanks. So far I'm hearing that overall it will work so I ordered it. If it doesn't I'll send it back.

That's funny, I did get it at "Creepy Avatars" LOL. They had another one I really wanted to use but this site doesn't seem to allow animated avatars.

Before you do anything, go into the bluetooth menu on the phone and delete the space in "VX 9700" as noted by Comfy Couch above. My bluetooth works flawlessly now, as opposed to not at all before I made the modification.

...and it worked.

At first I tried to connect thinking that the option to change the name and elimate the space during the connection process. Nothing worked. Wouldn't connect, would see the car but then wouldn't connect. I went back in the menu as you and Comfy couch suggested, changed the name to eliminate the space and bingo the phone works flawlessly. Even better than my Rzr did - seems to connect and download the contacts much faster than my old phone.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I love the phone, it's pretty cool.

I have done this with both my LG Dare and my wife's LG Chocolate, but neither has worked. It's really frustrating, since we can't see the address book, like we could with our old Motorola phones.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Just upgraded to the Dare and remembered this little "trick."
