Airmatic DC came on W220 and W211 cars Jack. The SL's which we both have come with ABC standard.

I just found my Transparent Technology guide see that there is a difference between Airmatic and Airmatic DC. I had ABC on my S550 and ADSII on my GL550 and now the ABC on the SL (you have a newer version ABC on your '09 model.) The MB TT guide ('07 edition) indicates the Airmatic is used on the M, R, S Class (the S has a refined ADS) and Airmatic DC on the E and CLS models. This has probably changed in the '08 edition. In any case, ABC is the pits and ADSII at only $750 is also the pits for anyone buying a GL.

Well that settles that then haha. Yeah for 2009 the engineers implemented ABC 2.0 into the SL chasis, now as to the differences god knows. But supposedly it reacts faster and has much better damping rates.

we just picked up the 2009 GL550 today and the number of changes are actually quite amazing. The suspesnsion does feel different than the GL550 my cousin has (2008 BTW), but it could be all in my head. However, for $750 its well worth the option for ADSII and IMO chump change when you are buying something this big, and heavy.

What do you think of the new command unit?

GL 320cdi, Chevrolet Avalanchero, GLE 350 (on order)
well, the sales materials (Canada) and website all claim '08 GLs with:

Airmatic Dual Control air suspension

Airmatic DC semi-active air suspension provides optimal ride comfort, yet instantly firms up as driving dynamics demand crisp response. Self-levelling Airmatic can even raise or lower the ride height — automatically, or at your pushbutton command.

So, my earlier quote minus the above = ADSII, which means three settings and roll mitigation...

I have the new COMAND unit in my SL and I really love it. It certainly a lot easier to use, more intuitive, and well I can display the iPod on there for once. The NAV is on par with the S class and the new sound system blows away the old HK Logic 7. I think it truly shines when you get to play some really good DVD-A 5.1 DTS encoded music.

The kids love the RSE and all the other gizmos in the backseats, but more importantly the COMAND is no longer a distraction and is more of an aid than ever before.

On my 2008 Gl 320 I found the suspension too soft in cornering, I wish I could ajust it firmer, unless it was does Contis junk tires that came with the car. Were can we find the 09 specs for Canada?

You should see them coming up to Canada in the next couple weeks. They are starting to show up at dealers down here.

Glad to hear it. Wish I could upgrade my '08.

Oh trust me if the previous GL wasn't totalled I too would have kept it. For what it is, its an amazing vehicle.
