Expected Delivery Time

I ordered my GL450 at the end of Aug. At that time I was given a delivery date of Mid-November. I received a call this week from my salesman and now my delivery date is Mid-January. I am a little confused/frustrated about the extended delivery time. Is anyone experiencing a similar delay.
Thanks!

I had the same delay last year - late August 2007 order date with a final delivery mid-February 2008. The only price difference IIRC was in the delivery charge.

Last year, '08 model year, I ordered mine in July and got the car the first of November. Might have something to do with dealer allocation.

I agree with the dealer allocation theory as well. I ordered mine in December (2006) and got it in March (2007). My understanding is that as long as the dealer has the allocations they can get you the car in about 3 months. My guess is that your dealer probably just got an allocation and ordered your car given the fact the we are about 3 months away from January.

Another explanation could be the dealer is swapping your "allocated" vehicle with another sold at higher margin knowing your deal is solid. I'm convinced that is what happened in my case as our vehicle was delivered as a holdback deal at a time of high demand.

GL 320cdi, Chevrolet Avalanchero, GLE 350 (on order)
I also heard production is being cut at Vance, so this could make the wait even longer...
