Can't find Michelin Latitude tires (OEM on an '08).

My wife managed to damage one of her tires and to my surprise, none of the major retailers has any stock on the Michelin Latitude tires that came with the car (265/60/18).

I'm going to go with a similar Michelin (Cross Terrain) in the same size because I cannot wait a week for a shipment to come from the manufacturer.

Pretty surprising.

What's surprising? Any MO tire for a GL is going to be a special order anywhere except at a Mercedes dealer. Tire dealers/WalMart can't afford to stock low demand high price models.

What is surprising is your intent to mismatch tires on a 4WD vehicle.

I've owned AWD vehicles for 18 years and know that a "mismatch" is when rolling diameter variance exceeds 2%, or if traction parameters vary, and that will not be the case here. But thanks for the concern.

So true. An engineer I work with put new Kumhos on the rear axle of his Carrera 4 turbo, but left some mich's on the front. His car was undrivable as the stability computer was jerking the car around even at parking lot speeds. I would not have belived it if I had not felt it... The cure? 4 matching Kumhos, even though the front and rear sizes are different. go figger.

The Conti's (at 17k miles) are almost shot and I need new tires before winter. Tried to buy a new set of Latitudes at Costco a couple of weeks ago during their $80-off sale. I was told that they are backordered and would not be available (at Costco) until mid November. Costco said they would have another Michelin sale in mid-November as well

This info won't help Fifth Ring, but if anyone else needs new tires before winter, then maybe you can hold off until November when the tires AND the sale both come back.

You can all rest easy. We put the body work through insurance and spent the time/money necessary to get the Latitude tire. I don't even want to know what it cost.

Of course, the TPM system warning light is lit anyway.
