Will the production cuts at the Alabama plant reduce production quality?
As a response to decreased demand, MB has offered a voluntary buyout package to all workers at the Alabama plant where the GL is made. I addition, they have for many weeks trimmed production back to 4 days/week, 6 hour/day, and have extended the Christmas holiday break by a week. I have a GL scheduled to be built on Jan 8th. Do you feel the inevitable decreased worker moral will lead to production quality issues? My own experience in business has shown me that low employee moral does not lead to the highest attention to detail, but I don't know how this could translate to the auto manufacturing process. Am I being too paranoid??

First the practical advice: What are you going to do about it???
Second: I wouldn't worry too much. It's all rote assembly and I'm sure that production is designed to eliminate the risk of shoddy workmanship. And then there's quality control...
I would also take some comfort in the fact that this is not a US manufacturer and not a Detroit operation. These folks should be thankful for every day they get paid; and if they put out a junk product, they'll suffer.
