2009 GL320 CDI Bluetec
2009 GL320 CDI which approved oil to use ?
On my 2008 GL320 the dealer and Benz was requesting me to use Mobil 1 5w-40 ESP formula M Syntetic.
Now on 2009 models GL320, my dealer sold me 2 quarts of Quaker State 5w30 Syntetic Europeen low ash formula, approved by Benz for 09?
what are you using?

I am using the 5w-40 ESP, but I have an '08 CDI, and you have a '09 Bluetec, so I don't know how different your engine is compared to the older CDIs.

Oil must meet MB specification 229.51 -- look for that on the bottle or have dealer prove it to you.
Normal oil is Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40, which I would prefer to Q state.

When we bought our '08 CDI, I wanted to buy a couple of litres of the Mobil1 ESP just to have in case of needing to top up prior to servicing, etc. Our selling dealer's parts dept didn't even have the ESP in stock, and brought out some regular Mobil1 which I was told was what their 'technicians' used!!
