Great new booster seat...
My little peanut is outgrowing her Britax, and I have one of these cast-magnisum booster seats on pre-order. We have the lowback version of this seat for cousins in the GL right now and it is small, light and reported to be comfortable. Most important, because it is located by the latch connectors, it is a quick and painless swap out to raech the third row.
Made in Canada by Magna, the builders of the X3 and G Klasse, it has got to be quality. I am very happy with the features and compatability with the low-back version in the GL, so wanted to give you guys an FYI.
My guess is that although these are expensive, they will be hard to find. Get on a list if you need one...

I'm on a list at the local baby store. I did a quick search in Yahoo for clek oobr, and there seems to be a few places in the states that will take an order, and ship when they get in. Likely May.

Like you, my little one out grew her Britax too. I went to Babies R Us in anticipation of buying the next size up Britax to only find out that I would have to buy two more before she was out of a seat. I found this one and we love it. It is very similar to the one Brocktoon is showing us, but readily available in the USA It reclines, has the seat belt adjuster, and the head rest also extends upwards as the child grows. The other thing that sold me on it, is it still has the 5 pt harness you can use up to 50 lbs (I think) before you transition them to the car seat belt. It also has the latch system. Just throwing another one out there for you all that are shopping for a seat It also got great reviews on the safety boards.

Yeah, it is a hard choice. It's a bit easier for me, as I already have the lowback clek, and I am very happy with the quality, construction and how well it works in the GL. All of my nices fight to sit in it, because it it comfy. That tells me alot. Recaro is not approved to the higher Canadian standard, so that one is out, as I can't get it, but it would not shock me to learn that Magna was the sub on that line for Recaro. They make all sorts of stuff.
The Graco looks ok, but I need a seat that will move up out of a 5 point, as the Britax has that covered. With the clek, it can later be converted into a backless. Another lifetime ago, I was with a mass merchandiser, and although things may have changed, I know that the stuff we were selling often became damaged in transit, recalled a month or two later or made to the lowest possible price point. That experience sort of soured me on the big brands like cosco, doral and Graco. If you compare those side by side to say your Britax, you will quickly see what I mean.
That all being said, I still have not seen the highback in person, but the lowback can't be beat, if that is what you are in the market for...

Graco moves around too much
Thanks for this thread. I have always wondered why no one has produced a booster with LATCH. I have the Gracos for both my girls and although they are comfy enough for them, they just move around too much for my taste.
This could be just what I've been looking for. A little pricey, but how can you put a price on safety?
Thanks again.

Yes, those are great, but I'm curious about the Mercedes LATCH weight limit? Or perhaps it doesn't matter as the booster seat is already tied down by the belts?

Also, it may be the only booster seat that prevents pulling the car's shoulder belt off once it's set.

Sunshine Monteray booster attachs with a latch...I'm in the same boat where my 3 yr old is about to move out of the Britax Roundabout...was thinking of the Sunshine.....
Interesting description around the latch weight limits and since they are saying the toddler will still be using the car's 3 point seatbelt, the only think that the latch is doing is holding the physical seat in place, so they are saying you don't need to worry about the weight limit on the latch...makes sense I guess

Brock... Thanks for the heads up... I went ahead and ordered one of the Clek Olli lowback seats... THAT THING KICKS ***! Probably one of the nicest booster seats I have ever seen, and my daughter loves it.
I will be getting an Oobr when they come out later this Summer.
If you look at the credentials of Magna International it looks like they were the ones that made the seats in my GL in the first place!

Gonna keep the lowback as the non-everyday seat in my Scoobie, and the highback is going in the GL...
I am sure the highback will be awesome quality. I really like how it is padded and cushy rather than a piece of plastic with a thin mat over it... My daughter's back side would agree.
In the end the lowback is plenty safe, but for longer trips, when she falls asleep the highback will give her head something to rest against instead of flopping over to one side.
