GL320 lemon HELP
Help Help I'm another mother with a problem with a Mercedes I have been standed 6 times with a dead battery and the car has been in the shop 3 times for the same problem. The dealer recognizes the problem and offered me an deal I put 3000.00 down and they will give me a new GL320 me and my husband took off work to drive 2 1/2 hours one way to make this deal, only to get to the dealeer and they call off the deal. They did the ole bait and switch trick to me. I felt like a complete fool. The also said I had to take my car home. We did but we towed it home. Help Anyone what should we do.

What state are you in? Lemon laws vary widely depending on where you reside. Do a google search on California lemon law for example and you'll find a lot of information on how many days in the shop or how many times for the same problem before it's officially a lemon.

What does the dealer say seems to be the problem for the dead battery. I had one problem in 14,000 miles, at about 10,000 miles. They said the problem was with a relay or sensor in the steering column, which they replaced. I haven't had a problem since.

I live in Illinois, the dealer said at first it was the soft ware in the rear back up camera, the second time was a 300 amp pull from somewhere it took 7 days for me to get the car back, third time they said it was the back up camera it was at the dealer 20 days. Problem is I never know when it's going to do it. Yes, Ive called MB USA. No luck yet

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I know this feeling all to well. I had a 2008 GL450 that had the same issues except they could never figure out where my draw was coming from. I wrote a letter to MBUSA explaing the problems I was having and stated that I expected them to buy it back under my states lemon law. I sent the letters certified mail that they had to sign for. I also sent copies to the owner and service managers of my dealership. Within 3 days of sending the letter I was contacted by MBUSA stating they would repurchase the car. It took 4-6 weeks after that to complete the process, but it was well worth it. If you want you can PM me and I will give you all the details. Good luck, and stay firm!!!

We were returning a rental car and I do not drive in the city very well 2 1/2 hours away in ST. Louis Mo so my husband took a trailer to get the new car so I wouldn't get it mess up. That's how I treat my cars, I usually have people that want my cars after I'm done with them. I keep them in very go condition. My 2008 GL runs at the moment but you never know when it will go dead.

THEY should buy it back. My family never had any problems with any of the mercedes they bought or leased. KNOCK ON WOOD. But my friend had a problem with E55 before back when they first came out.
The car's engine just died 3 times they got to change something in the engine he got them to buy it back. They gave him a brand new car same deal same everything np. No extra down just a new car to continue down the lease he had.
It died on the freeway the engine just stalled haha i was there with him actually KINDA SCARY! Was alot of traffic everyone was driving like 10-25mph anyway so thank goodness if it was fast **** we would have been HIT! LA rush hour traffic 10 east at 3.30pm weekday haha you wont move in the freeway!

Good luck, I'm sure MomsBenz (Kaila) will be a great avenue for you.
First task is to research Illinois lemon law. I did a quick google and this looks like a good site: http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.g.../lemonlaw.html It seems like you are getting close to qualifying. It says 4 attempts to fix or 30 days out of service. You mentioned St. Louis, did you buy it in Missouri? I'm not sure then whether Illinois or Missouri lemon laws apply.
Second task is to get MBUSA involved. This isn't the first time they will have heard of this type of problem. They might know more or maybe they are better at dealing with this than your dealer. Ask them to discuss with your dealer. I personally wouldn't bring up lemon law yet since you might not qualify yet and they might consider it a warning and begin to build their defense to make sure you never qualify. You should tell them your dealer gave an acceptable offer ($3000 deal) and then reneged on it. I don't assume you have the 'deal' on paper, if so fax it to them.
Third, call your dealer and tell them you intend to escalate to MBUSA due to your disastisfaction.
Good luck, keep us posted.

I have wrote a letter to Mr. Lieb, but I'm sure he knows about the problem because we caledl MBUSA that day we were sitting in the parking lot, ( no help). The reneged because of what my husband said in anger ( ebay) we was never going to do that It's my car not his anyway. I also said I would like to pull that general managers hair out to but that doesn't mean I'm gonna do it. The car is running but I'm scared to drive it sits in the garage while I drive a 1986 car. So Much for Mercedes good for Chrysler.

In my opinion, this is a current draw from the tail gate not closing completely until proven otherwise. Find another dealer if you have to, but have them perform the most current TSB on the tail gate not closing problem.
I also agree with others that you should encourage MBUSA to get involved.
One last thing re: dealing with the service dept. at most dealerships: they respond to the 'carrot' much better than the 'stick'.
