255 vs 275 tires sizes; How much difference?
I have a 2008 GL320 with the optional 19" tires. My truck has the Pirelli Scorpions, which I don't dislike, they were good in the snow this past winter on my hunting trip, however, I would really like some more aggressive off-road tires for more serious hunting and offroading. Goodyear has a tire called the Wrangler MT/R (P) that comes in a 19" size, originally on the Range Rover, I believe. The only problem is they only come in a 255/55/19 size, and not the 275/55/19 of my Pirelli's. Any thoughts on what difference the smaller tire would make on a GL? Thanks.

I am by no means a tire expert but I just put on new tires myself and have a little insight. Regarding those Goodyear tires you are thinking about, you will need to make sure that the load index is adequate (I believe 111 or higher) and that the speed rating is adequate (I believe H or higher). I would not think that the difference between a 275 and a 255 would be that big of a deal. Another option you may want to consider, although far more expensive, is picking up a set of used 18 inch wheels and looking at your options. My understanding is that there are alot more 18 inch tire options than 19 inch tire options. There are really not that many 19 inch tire options and they are all expensive..........
