Liftgate will not open
I searched this forum and found many posts about the liftgate not closing completely. We have a different problem. When you hit the keyfob or press the lever to open the hatch, it beeps and makes a bit of a whirring noise, but it does not open. It will not even let you pull it up manually. The only way to open it is to use the emergency release lever from inside the hatch and push hard. Needless to say, a bit of a pain.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

No direct experience but it sounds like there is an issue with the hydraulic lift system. The whirring noise sounds like it might be the hydraulic pump running. The fact that nothing happens might mean no hydraulic pressure / valve(s) not opening / lack of hydraulic fluid etc etc. Is it still in warranty?

Sorry to hear about your troubles and I agree with the previous post as well. The auto liftgate package in these GL's really sucks. It is by far the worst system in any vehicle we have had in our family.
